Valencia will aim to get off the foot of the table when they host Bayern Munich at the La Fonteta on Friday in the EuroLeague.
After seven rounds of fixtures, Valencia have only one win to their name in the competition. That result came against ASVEL about two weeks ago. Bojan Dubljevic scored 13 points, and Guillen Vives added 10 to lead their side to the win. Many players contributed off the bench as well, and coach Jaume Ponsarnau must be pleased with the effort. But since then, they have lost the next three games in all competitions.
First, they faced Gran Canaria in the Liga ACB and succumbed to an 88-86 defeat in overtime. Valencia lead going into the fourth quarter but they could not defend the lead. Jordan Loyd top-scored for them with 17 points in that game. He played 37 minutes as well, which was more than any of his teammates. They lost to Panathinaikos in the next EuroLeague game by a 91-80 scoreline. Loyd played well again, and he scored 27 points.
Valencia’s last game ended in an overtime loss as well. Ucam Murcia beat them 97-95 in the Liga to push them to 13th in the table. Despite a good performance, they could not come up in the clutch moments to deliver the win. The game against Bayern Munich gives them a good opportunity to bounce back. If they fail to get their act together, their drought of knockout EuroLeague basketball will extend to nine seasons.
Bayern’s form in the EuroLeague is also not that great recently. They have lost three out of the last four, losing the last two games in the process. Baskonia were the opponents two weeks ago, and the Spanish side beat Bayern 93-60. Bayern scored just 10 points in the first quarter and never quite recovered after the poor start. Greg Monroe scored 18 points for Bayern, but he did not receive much help from his teammates.
Bayern improved for their next EuroLeague game but still fell to a 90-82 loss to Fenerbahce. Monroe was the main act again, and he had 19 points and 7 rebounds in the game. The former NBA player has proved to be a great signing for Bayern. Monroe has played for six NBA teams, and he was with the Detroit Pistons for the longest duration.
Unlike the EuroLeague, Bayern are excelling in the Bundesliga. They have won all the games so far and stand unrivalled at the top of the table. Bayern beat Alba Berlin in their last Bundesliga game 84-80. Now coach Dejan Radonjic will want the same results in the EuroLeague as well.
Valencia Basket vs Bayern Munich Prediction
Bayern should bounce back against Valencia, who can’t buy a win at this moment. The winner will be by a comfortable margin, and Bayern should beat Valencia by more than 10 points. Both sides like to play aggressively, and the total points in the game will be Over 140 as well.
