Sunrisers Hyderabad Vs Kings XI Punjab Preview
Both teams square off in what’s going to be a do or die game for either of them. At the midway stage, both sides looked well placed to make the qualifiers, but due a drastic fall in performance, both have lost out big time, and teams like RCB and RR have started catching up.
Punjab’s issue to an extent has been their team selection. There’s been constant chopping and changing, why Sarfaraz is not in the side is slightly mystical right now (is it injuries or performance? It’s just not communicated) but then a player of the caliber of Karun Nair doesn’t find a place in the side is almost shocking because he’s done well even at the international level. Ashwin has a unique method, and without a doubt, that method has worked. They’ll need to win those big moments in the game to finally secure themselves a qualifiers spot.
SRH is a clear cut case of a team that has lacked one significant aspect in its game that has hampered it no less. Their middle order is weak and fragile and hardly productive because of which whenever they lose the top order they struggle to put together a score. Manish Pandey’s return to form is good news for them, but others need to stand up now as well if the team needs to post a competitive total.
Form Guide (LLWWL)
It’s hard to fault the team selection, and maybe they can bring in Sandeep Kumar back in place of Siddharth Kaul but other than that it primarily comes down to the ability of the middle order to score runs.
The player under the spotlight
Manish Pandey batting at No.3 has been a revelation for Hyderabad. He’s been their best batsman in the last two games and looked completely at ease with the conditions while even Warner couldn’t keep up with him. With only the provisional squad selected for the World Cup and India’s supposed No.4 Vijay Shankar failing miserably in IPL, does it open the door for Pandey? He’ll need to keep performing and then see what happens.
Probable XI: David Warner, Kane Williamson, Manish Pandey, Vijay Shankar, Wridhiman Saha(W), Deepak Hooda, Shakib Al Hasan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rashid Khan, Sandeep Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed
Kings XI Punjab
Karun Nair or Sarafaraz Khan deserves to get a look in the side because let’s face it, Mandeep Singh hasn’t set the world on fire with his batting. The batting unit hasn’t been able to capitalize on the starts provided by Gayle and Rahul, and they’ll need to fix that if they want to score big totals.
The player under the spotlight
The game against Bangalore pretty much hung on how well David Miller played that day. Sure Nicolas Pooran smashed a few, but Punjab needed Miller to perform. When that didn’t, they fell short of the total. He’ll be looking forward to right that wrongs this match and makes a statement.
Probable XI: Chris Gayle, KL Rahul, Mayank Aggarwal, Sarfaraz Khan/Kaun Nair, David Miller, Nicolas Pooran, Mandeep Singh, Ravi Ashwin, Hardus Viljoen, Mohammed Shami, Ankit Rajpoot
It’s a sporting wicket at Hyderabad that offers some support to the bowlers, and if the batsmen apply themselves, they can score big as well. A score of around 170 is a fighting total here and should keep the opposition in contention.
Sunrisers Hyderabad Vs Kings XI Punjab Prediction
SRH needs runs, a lot of them from their top order while Punjab can to an extent still rely on their middle order to provide support to the top order which makes them a slightly more balanced unit and our choice to win this encounter.
