Having sealed the ODI series against West Indies at home already, Sri Lanka will now be aiming for a clean sweep as they gear up for the 3rd and final ODI. Sri Lanka won the first two ODIs by 1 wicket and 161 runs respectively and have comprehensively outplayed West Indies in all departments. The visitors haven’t been up to the mark and it will require a special effort from the West Indian batsmen to stop a whitewash.
Sri Lanka Match Form
Hundreds from Avishka Fernando and Kusal Mendis, in the course of their record 239-run stand, helped Sri Lanka post a massive 345-8 on the board in the last game and then decimate the opposition by 161 runs. However, the Lankans will still be looking for some decent contributions from captain Dimuth Karunaratne, Kusal Perera and Angelo Mathews.
Sri Lanka’s wrist-spinners Wanindu Hasaranga and Lakshan Sandakan have been all over the West Indies and they are expected to play a key role in the final game as well along with Nuwan Pradeep who has been very good too.
West Indies Match Form
The West Indies have a lot to sort out if they hope to salvage some pride in this series. Barring Shai Hope, who has scored a hundred and a fifty already in the series, none of the rest in the batting unit have managed to perform. The likes of Darren Bravo, Sunil Ambris, Roston Chase, Nicholas Pooran and captain Kieron Pollard would really need to bat responsibly as they do possess the talent.
Their bowling too has let them down. Sheldon Cottrell and Alzarri Joseph picked up 7 wickets among them in the last game but also conceded a lot of runs. The others were worse. Jason Holder, Keemo Paul and Fabian Allen would really need to do a better supporting role.
Sri Lanka vs West Indies 3rd ODI Cricket Betting Tips
The Pallekele International Cricket Stadium is known to be a good ODI surface. It is a typical Asian wicket which will be great for batting for the most part but will slow down as the game progresses and assist the slow bowlers. The highest total on this venue is 363-7 by South Africa against Sri Lanka in 2018. The average total batting first at Pallekele is 246. In the 3rd ODI between Sri Lanka and West Indies, the team batting first would be targeting a total of 280-300.
Sri Lanka has now beaten West Indies in 4 consecutive ODIs and are clearly dominating them in the format. Now that they have already won the series, they would be flying high on confidence and would look to end with a flourish. West Indies are unpredictable and might produce a great bating display. But Sri Lanka are clearly the favorites at home and know how to utilize the home conditions to their advantage. Thus, back Sri Lanka to win the 3rd and final ODI.
