- Venue: Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele
The first T20I between Sri Lanka and West Indies went on expected lines as the visiting West Indian side showed their batting might and powered their way to a 25-run win. They now lead the 2-match series 1-0 and would be looking to seal the second and final match on Friday to finish their Sri Lankan tour on a high. Sri Lanka, despite playing at home, were blown away by the batting power of the West Indies and would need a special performance to stop them.
Sri Lanka Match Form
Sri Lanka were below par in the first T20I in all the departments. Their bowlers couldn’t contain the West Indies and the batsmen too failed. They would have lost by a bigger margin if not for the performances by Kusal Perera (66 off 38 balls) and Wanindu Hasaranga (44 off 34 balls). The rest of the main batsmen like Avishka Fernando, Shehan Jayasuriya, Kusal Mendis and Angelo Mathews would have to contribute in the next game if they hope to pile pressure on the West Indies.
Sri Lanka’s bowling way wayward and even captain Lasith Malinga went for runs apart from Thisara Perera, Isuru Udana and Lakshan Sandakan. Whether this bowling unit will be able to stop the West Indian batting force will be interesting to see.
West Indies Match Form
Almost everyone contributed for the West Indies in the last game: Lendl Simmons (67* off 51 balls), Brandon King (33 off 25 balls), Andre Russell (25 off 14 balls) and Kieron Pollard (34 off 15 balls). They don’t have to change anything and just hope that their batsmen produce another power-packed performance in the final T20I.
Oshane Thomas turned out to be the bowling star for the Windies with a career-best 5-28 that broke the back of the opposition. Sheldon Cottrell, Dwayne Bravo, Rovman Powell and Andre Russell did well too and showed the team’s bowling depth.
Sri Lanka vs West Indies, 2nd T20I: Cricket Betting Tips
The Pallekele International Cricket Stadium will again be the venue for the second and final T20I between Sri Lanka and West Indies. As we witnessed in the first game, this should be another high-scoring encounter where the ball should come on nicely to the bat. Spinners and seam bowlers will also get purchase but batsmen will dominate once they set in.
The team batting first would be targeting a total of 180-190.
Sri Lanka are the home team and should have the edge. However, West Indies are a different beast in the T20I format. They have too many power-hitters in their ranks who can easily take the game away at any moment. Sri Lanka will obviously try hard to level the series but the West Indian batting force is likely to be too much for them. Thus, back the West Indies to produce another power-packed batting display and win the second T20I.
