Sri Lanka Vs South Africa 5th ODI Preview and Prediction

South Africa

Domination is an apt word to describe how the South Africans have gone against a Sri Lankan team that seems to have no answers at all be it while batting or bowling. Quinton De Kock’s return to form has been the best news from this series for the Proteas because it boosts their slightly weaker batting lineup.

The bowling, on the other hand, has been on a rampage with the fast bowlers pretty much running through the Sri Lankan batting throughout the series.

For the Final ODI, we could actually see players like David Miller and JP Duminy getting more time in the middle as they’ve not really had that much to do in this series. The protest would be gunning for a whitewash in the Last ODI.

The player under the spotlight

David Miller hasn’t done much in the series(well..he hasn’t had much of a chance either). We could see him getting promoted to 4th or 5th again to have some time in the middle, could this be the game where Killer Miller makes his mark?

Probable XI: Quinton de Kock(w), Reeza Hendricks, Aiden Markram, Faf du Plessis(c), David Miller, Jean-Paul Duminy, Andile Phehlukwayo, Dale Steyn, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi, Tabraiz Shamsi

Sri Lanka

Bruised, Battered and not many would fault them if the Lankans are just waiting for the ordeal to end. The team has been outclassed, outmatched and outplayed in all departments and it’s just been the same story in almost every match.

Sri Lanka has suffered from a collapse pretty much everytime they’ve batted and they’ve found it tough the dismantle the duo of Du Plessis and De Kock when they’ve been bowling. That has pretty much been the blueprint of the series.

For the last match, it would make sense to go in with the same eleven and try to instill some stability into the team. Players like Tharanga, Mendis, Perera need to make their experience count as the team would be looking up to them to lead the way.

The player under the spotlight

Dhananjaya de Silva was probably the only shining light in the previous match but in a way, he also showed one chink in the Protean armor. He was able to snatch a few and Sri Lanka could be looking to use that as leverage in future games.

Probable XI: Upul Tharanga, Avishka Fernando, Oshada Fernando, Priyamal Perera, Kusal Mendis(w), Dhananjaya de Silva, Kamindu Mendis, Thisara Perera, Lasith Malinga(c), Isuru Udana, Kasun Rajitha

Sri Lanka Vs South Africa 5th ODI Preview and Prediction

South Africa is the runaway favorites to win this one, they would be gunning for a whitewash against the Lankans.

If South Africa bats first we could expect a 300 plus score from them, especially with De Kock in the kind of form that he has displayed. If Sri Lanka bats first then we could be looking at another batting collapse and a sub 200 score from them.
