Sri Lanka Vs South Africa 3rd ODI Preview and Prediction

South Africa

A team that is still reeling from the absence of AB De Villiers, South Africa still has problems of plenty when it comes to the middle to lower order. Even in the 2nd game after De Kock exploded at the start once both him and Du Plessis got out, the team suffered a collapse and could muster only a sub-par score of 250.

What helps South Africa is the fact that they go against a team in Sri Lanka that has still not found an able replacement for Sangakkara, Jayawardene, and Dilshan in the batting department.

Dale Steyn and JP Duminy are expected to make a return to the eleven and the lively Durban pitch should suit the South African pace battery.

The player under the spotlight

Dale Steyn is still not fully back to his old self ever since his return to International Cricket. He’s still got the deadly pace but it does seem that he’s still feeling his way into the rhythm. All eyes will be on him as South Africa would be looking up to him to lead the bowling unit at the World Cup.

Probable XI: Quinton de Kock(wk), Reeza Hendricks, Faf du Plessis(C), Rassie van der Dussen, David Miller, Andile Phehlukwayo, Wiaan Mulder, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi, Imran Tahir

Sri Lanka

As mentioned earlier the Sri Lankan team has just not recovered from the loss of Sangakkara, Jayawardene, and Dilshan. They lack both depth and application required for succeeding at the International stage and it shows.

They have a decent bowling unit which did wonders in Tests but has been occasionally put to the sword by De Kock ever since. The team would be looking to find some stability in the batting as they prepare for the world cup.

The player under the spotlight

Lasith Malinga has called for the batsmen to show some application and understand the importance of playing at the international stage. It would be interesting how the slinger can rally his troops at such a crucial juncture.

Probable XI: Niroshan Dickwella, Avishka Fernando, Kusal Mendis, Oshada Fernando, Kusal Perera, Dhananjaya de Silva, Thisara Perera, Akila Dananjaya, Lasith Malinga, Kasun Rajitha, Vishwa Fernando

Sri Lanka Vs South Africa 3rd ODI Prediction

South Africa is the runaway favorites to win this one keeping both the form and the fast nature of the Durban track. If South Africa bats first we could expect a 300 plus score from them, especially with Duminy making a return and De Kock in blistering form. If Sri Lanka bat first it’s tough to see them cross the 200 mark. We expect the total runs scored will be Under 490.

Total Runs: Under 490.5 @ 1.83 at Pinnacle Sports
