Sri Lanka Vs South Africa 1st T20I Preview and Bet Tips

South Africa

You’ve got to admit that the 5-0 mauling of the opposition would have left a sweet taste in their mouth after a shocking test series defeat at the hands of the visitors. If you go through the two sides then you’d really have to strain hard to find a reason why a team like South Africa would lose to Sri Lanka.

They have a much better batting lineup, a bowling lineup that is capable of spitting serious venom at the opposition and an all in all more balanced unit for the fast-paced South African conditions.

With these three T20Is being the final international outing for the teams before the world cup both teams would be looking to try out a few combinations keeping that in mind.

The player under the spotlight

Aiden Markram was in blistering form in the domestic circuit as soon as he got dropped from the national side. Such was his form that he got called back and was able to score a decent 67 not out in the 5th ODI. Markram has shown promise and it would be interesting to see if he can deliver consistently as well.

Probable XI: Quinton de Kock (wk), Aiden Markram, Faf du Plessis (c), Rassie van der Dussen, Jean-Paul Duminy, Dwaine Pretorius, Andile Phehlukwayo, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi, Imran Tahir

Sri Lanka

After the high of an almost shock Test series win, Sri Lanka was given a rude reality check when they were completely outclassed in all departments during the ODI series. The 5-0 scoreline, in reality, doesn’t seem too unfair considering the gulf that was evident between the two teams throughout the series.

The team lacked confidence, aggression, and application to actually compete against a South African side that was born and bred on those conditions. With the world cup just around the corner, Sri Lanka would be looking to make an impact in the series to salvage some pride before leaving.

The player under the spotlight

Thisara Perera seems to be the only standout player in the team right now that can single-handedly win the game for Sri Lanka. The team would be looking up to him and in many ways a lot will depend on his performance.

Probable XI: Avishka Fernando, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Niroshan Dickwella, Kusal Mendis (wk), Priyamal Perera, Thisara Perera, Dhananjaya de Silva, Angelo Perera, Akila Dananjaya, Isuru Udana, Lasith Malinga (c)

Sri Lanka Vs South Africa 1st T20I Preview and Bet Tips

It would be hard to expect any different outcome then what we saw in the ODIs. Sri Lanka doesn’t seem to have the answer for the South Africans and unless South Africa doesn’t play below their full potential it would be hard to expect any result other than a South African win.

If South Africa bats first we could expect a score in the range of 160-180. If Sri Lanka bat first it’s tough to see them cross 150 against the South African fast bowling.
