Spurs vs Nuggets Preview
The San Antonio Spurs will take on Denver Nuggets in Game 6 of the NBA Western Conference playoffs at the AT&T Center on Thursday night, with Spurs aiming to bounce back after losing two straight games in the series and Nuggets hoping to advance to the West semi-finals for the first time in a decade.
The Nuggets lost the opening game at home, followed by a close win in the Game 2 and then again suffered defeat at Game 3. The team rebounded emphatically from a 1-2 deficit and then won two-consecutive games, allowing them to take a 3-2 series lead in the series.
The Nuggets have put on a spectacular performance in a 108-90 win in Game 5, leading by 11 points at the end of the first half and increased their lead to 22 points in the third quarter. The Spurs tried to strike back in the fourth quarter, but it was nothing more than a formality as Nuggets displayed very impressive on-ball defence to win the game.
Jamal Murray led the Denver in Game 5 with 23 points, while Nikola Jokic scored 16 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. LaMarcus Aldridge led the Spurs in Game 5 with 17 points and ten rebounds, while DeMar DeRozan added 17 points.
The Nuggets are in excellent form this season and finished the regular season with the second-best 54-28 record in the Western Conference, but the club have won only two of their last eight games on the road in the NBA League. On the contrary, the Spurs have registered five wins of their last eight games at home and finished the regular season on 7th spot with a 48-34 record.
Spurs vs Nuggets Prediction
Despite dropping their last two games against the Nuggets, the Spurs have the edge going into the match. Superior quality aside, home advantage and the need to bounce back should see them winning the game.
