Granada will hope to regain top spot in the table when they visit Getafe in the La Liga on Thursday.
Granada have taken everyone by surprise this season. They finished last in the La Liga in 2017 which resulted in relegation. After spending two seasons in the Segunda Division, they are back. Granada finished second in the second tier last season to seal their promotion. Amazingly, they were leading the pack entering into this round of fixtures. Barcelona won their game to go first, but Granada can regain that spot if they win against Getafe.
Under coach Diego Martinez, they have won six of their ten games so far. No one expected them to be in the top half of the table, let alone challenging for the top spot. Granada’s first game of the season ended in a 4-4 draw with Villarreal. It was a frenetic game, but the same cannot be said about the rest of Granada’s game this season. Granada have kept six clean sheets this season, which is the most by any side.
In the last four games, they have won thrice. All three of those have been 1-0 victories, which indicates how clinical they are. The loss in that time was a 4-2 hammering by Real Madrid. Granada faced Real Betis last Sunday and won 1-0 courtesy of an Alvaro Vadillo goal. Antonio Puertas has been their top-scorer this season with three goals. However other players have also chipped in, and four players have netted twice.
It would not be a stretch to say that Getafe were the Granada of last season. They surprised many people to mount a push for the Champions League spots. In the end, they came up short by just one point, but their efforts did not go unnoticed. However, this season has not gone well so far for them. Getafe were 12th in the table on Wednesday, and they have won only three games all season.
As numerous teams are close by in the table, Getafe are just four points clear of the relegation zone. The onus is on them to bounce back and get into the top half in the coming weeks. On a positive note, two of their three wins have come in the last three games. A 2-0 win over Leganes followed a comeback win over Real Sociedad.
Sevilla were their opponents on Sunday, and Getafe fell to a 2-0 defeat. Getafe are in the Europa League this season courtesy of last campaign, and they are faring well. After three games they are third in their group, favorites to progress to the knockout phases.
Getafe vs Granada Betting Tips
The head to head record favors Granada, as they have won the last three meetings between these two sides. The trend should continue, and Granda should get the win on Thursday. It will be a tight game, and the total goals should be under 2.5 in the contest. However, Granada have enough to get a narrow win to go top in the table.
