- Date: Sunday, February 09, 2020
- Time: 08:00 AM GMT
- Venue: The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg
The 2nd ODI between South Africa and England was washed out due to rain and only 11.2 overs could be delivered. The series hence remains at 1-0 in South Africa’s favor. The two teams will now head to Johannesburg for the 3rd and final ODI. Both the teams will be desperate to clinch a victory; for England it would mean leveling the series and for South Africa it would mean a rare series win in these dire times.
South Africa Match Form
South Africa’s batting unit is dependent on skipper Quinton de Kock along with Reeza Hendricks, Temba Bavuma and Rassie van der Dussen. In the 1st ODI, De Kock and Bavuma were the top-scorers for South Africa. In the 2nd ODI, Reeza Hendricks was unbeaten on a fine 35 before rain washed the game. These are good signs for the home side and if David Miller can get going down the order, they will be a real force.
South Africa’s bowling doesn’t have great variety. Andile Phehlukwayo and Beuran Hendricks would be the two main seam bowlers. However, it is leg-spinner Tabraiz Shamsi who will be watched out for again.
England Match Form
Despite the loss in the 1st ODI, England is still champion side with great talent. In Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root and Eoin Morgan they have world-class batsmen who can really dominate the opposition on their day. The inclusion of Joe Denly has bolstered their batting further and he may have a big role to play in the final game.
On the bowling front, England will rely on Chris Woakes, Sam Curran, Tom Curran and Chris Jordan. Joe Root has been doing well with his off-spin and taking wickets as well. Will he succeed again in the final ODI too?
South Africa vs England 3rd ODI Cricket Betting Tips
The Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg – the venue for the 3rd ODI between South Africa and England – is a high-scoring venue. Totals of 300-plus have been achieved here on as many as 17 occasions. In fact, the highest total posted on this ground is the mammoth 439-2 by South Africa versus the West Indies in 2015. Expect another batting beauty with not much help for the bowlers. The team batting first would be targeting a total of 280-300.
South Africa would be keen to finish on a high. However, England, the reigning world champions, will come very hard. They are a terrific ODI unit and are unlikely to falter again. Expect England to win the 3rd ODI and level the series.
