Verona will host Torino at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi in the Serie A on Sunday.
Verona Match Form
After losing two games on the bounce, Verona will be looking to get back to winning ways. Two weeks ago they hosted Roma and succumbed to a 3-1 loss. Davide Faraoni got the goal for Verona, but Roma won with relative ease in the end. Verona had just two efforts on target in the entire game. Last week they visited Atalanta and lost 3-2. Samuel Di Carmine scored a brace for Verona, but it was not enough in the end. Verona led after the hour mark, only to concede the winner in stoppage time to lose.
Both Roma and Atalanta are in the top six, and those were tough fixtures on paper. They will hope to fare better in the easier run of fixtures they have coming up. Verona have only scored 14 league goals, which is less than a rate of a goal per game. No player has scored more than three goals in the Serie A for them this season. Di Carmine leads that list with three goals, two of which he got against Atalanta. They take 10.8 shots per game, which is the least among all teams.
Despite their poor form, Verona’s home record will provide encouragement ahead of the tie against Torino. They have lost just two home games this season. Three out of their five league wins have come at home.
Torino Match Form
Torino, in stark contrast to Verona, have won their last two games in the league. A 1-0 win over Genoa was followed by a 2-1 triumph over Fiorentina. Gleison Bremer scored the only goal of the match against Genoa. Torino had just 37% possession in the game, but they were highly effective on the counter. A similar pattern was seen against Fiorentina. Torino had 40% possession, but they had the same efforts on target as Fiorentina. Simone Zaza and Cristian Ansaldi got the goals in that game for Torino.
They are now ninth in the table, but a whopping eight points behind sixth-placed Atalanta. Torino finished seventh last season and narrowly missed out on the European places. They will try again this season, but getting into the top six looks tougher this time. The likes of Cagliari and Lazio have impressed, which has left Torino out of the picture so far.
Torino vs Verona Betting Tips & H2H
Verona won the last head to head meeting between these sides, but three of the last four have ended in draws. The last encounter ended in a 2-1 scoreline in favour of Verona. It occurred a season ago, as Verona were in the Serie B last campaign.
Torino are the team in form, but Verona’s strong home record suggests that it will be a close game. Both sides should score in this one, and the total goals should be over 2.5 in the game. Verona will be the slight favorites to get the win and return to winning ways in the league.
