Two Spanish giants will go head to head when Real Madrid host Barcelona in the EuroLeague on Friday.
If one looks at the current picture, Barcelona are leading Real Madrid. In the EuroLeague, Barcelona have won six out of their seven games, and they stand first in the EuroLeague table. But in the Liga ACB, the roles are reversed. Real Madrid are top there, and Barcelona are behind in third place. Two defeats for Barcelona so far means that they are running behind in the domestic sweepstakes.
Last season it was Real Madrid who reigned supreme. They topped the regular season standings with 28 wins and Barcelona were just behind with 27 victories. The two met in the finals of the league, and Real Madrid recorded a 3-1 win to claim the title. Barcelona have not won the Liga title since 2014, and Real have certainly dominated in that aspect. Their last EuroLeague title also came a while back in 2010. Since then, their best finish has been third place in 2014. Last season they were knocked out by Anadolu Efes in the first round of the playoffs.
Since losing to Milan in early November, Barcelona have gone on a three-game winning streak. They beat Montakit Fuenlabrada in the Liga before claiming a EuroLeague win over Zalgiris. Barcelona faced Real Betis on Sunday in the Liga and won 100-95. Cory Higgins scored 24 points and Nikola Mirotic added 19. Mirotic is averaging 19.14 points per game which is the highest of any Barca player.
Real Madrid are not far behind Barcelona in the EuroLeague picture. They are in eighth place, just two wins short of their Spanish rivals. Real finished in third place in the EuroLeague last time after beating Fenerbahce in the third-place game. They won the title the season before, and Real are among the favorites this season as well. The first seven games have seen them start slowly, but few people expect them to continue with this pace.
Their flawless form in the Liga ACB also provides encouragement. Real Madrid have won all the eight games in that competition, by an average margin of 14.63 points. They have rolled over most teams in the league and are favorites to retain their title. In the EuroLeague, Real have lost two of their last four games. Bayern Munich and Anadolu Efes were the teams to beat the Spaniards.
Real Madrid have won all their games in November so far. They faced Unicaja in their last game and recorded an 82-71 win. Four of their starters scored 10 points more led by guard Sergio Llull. Anthony Randolph is Real’s top-scorer in the EuroLeague so far.
Real Madrid vs Barcelona Betting Tips
The game will be a close one, but Barcelona will be the slight favorites to pick up the win. Both sides are good offensive units and the total points in the game will be over 140. But Barcelona should get a close win by a margin of under 10 points.
