RCB vs KXIP Preview
RCB is having a renaissance of sorts with the emergence of Dale Steyn from the wilderness while Punjab has reached a stage where they need to be more consistent to book a place in the qualifiers.
RCB seems to have found a new lease of life with the introduction of Dale Steyn to the squad. His emergence has brought some new life into the bowling attack with the pacers feeding off each other and Navdeep Saini especially bowling with some dangerous venom.
Punjab have hit a slump at the worst possible time, and they need to get out of it. The good thing for Punjab is the form of Chris Gayle and KL Rahul. The bad part? The dubious selection issues where they dropped Sarfaraz Khan who was playing well and he hasn’t returned since. Sarfaraz provided a lot of depth to the batting that has been taken away from the lineup right now and the team is struggling to post the big totals.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
Form Guide (WWLWL)
RCB is a rejuvenated bunch and is finally able to realise what their strengths and weaknesses are. They’ve scraped through in two games, and the inclusion of Dale Steyn has made a world of difference as the bowling unit now looks a lot different from what it used to earlier. They might seem to field the same team without that many tweaks as everyone has been contributing ably in recent times.
The player under the spotlight
Is it just me or despite scoring more 300 runs already this IPL AB De Villiers hasn’t shown us an “AB Special”. He is in form and has been timing the ball well. He’s scored a couple of the 70s as well, but there’s still just a little bit lacking. Maybe a hundred? Maybe something bigger? Perhaps it’s just the AB fan speaking up.
Probable XI: Parthiv Patel. Virat Kohli, Moeen Ali, AB De Villiers, Marcus Stoinis, Navdeep Saini, Umesh Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Dale Steyn
Kings XI Punjab
Form Guide (LWLLW)
Punjab needs to sort out its batting order. Harpreet Brar in place of Sarfaraz hasn’t worked out for them, and they are struggling with stability in the middle order. It’s a shock that with Karun Nair and Sarfaraz Khan just warming the bench what thought the process is the team management following. Ankit Rajpoot could make a return as well in place of Murugan Ashwin.
The player under the spotlight
KL Rahul is one of the significant contributors for the team in this tournament, and a lot of his team’s fortunes will depend on how he plays and how much he scores. It’s his home ground in Bangalore, and all eyes will be on him to lead his team across the line.
Probable XI: Chris Gayle, KL Rahul, Mayank Aggarwal, Sarfaraz Khan, David Miller, Mandeep Singh, Ravi Ashwin, Hardus Viljoen, Mohammed Shami, Sam Curran, Ankit Rajpoot
It’s Bangalore, it’s a belter, it’s a small ground, and we’re going to see scores in the vicinity of 180. Well, with Gayle playing maybe even 200 won’t be a step too far.
RCB Vs KXIP Betting Tips
Bangalore has the home advantage and the momentum on their side as well. The pitch also plays in their favor. Punjab, on the other hand, has its own set of batsmen licking their chops and looking forward to batting on the Bangalore track.
If we look carefully at the lineups, we see Punjab trumping Bangalore when it comes to the bowling department and ability to play under pressure so for a change, we’ll flush the momentum train down the toilet and put all our eggs in the Punjab basket.
