After two back-to-back sensational wins, the Rajasthan Royals find themselves at the second spot on the points table of the ongoing season of the IPL. In their last match, the Royals pulled off a sensational win after chasing a target of 224 – the highest in IPL history – in just 19.3 overs against Kings XI Punjab. The Kolkata Knight Riders, meanwhile, are back on track, too, after securing a win against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their last game. Rajasthan will now take on Kolkata in Dubai on the 30th of September.
Rajasthan will be pumped up after securing that sensational win against Punjab. Sanju Samson is on fire and has got two 50s in a row. Captain Steven Smith is also finding his touch and last match’s surprise hero, Rahul Tewatia, could now be their pinch-hitter in the middle-order. The return of Jos Butler only strengthens their top. However, Rajasthan’s lower middle-order is weak and if Kolkata can break through their top-order then the team will struggle.
In the bowling department, the Royals are overly dependent on Jofra Archer and Tom Curran. The likes of Jaydev Unakdkat, Ankit Rajpoot, and Shreyas Gopal would have to take more responsibility.
Kolkata Knight Riders:
After losing their first game against Mumbai Indians by 49 runs, the Knight Riders came back strongly in their next match against SRH and beat them by 7 wickets. They are now fifth on the table and have an opportunity to move up the ladder after the game against Rajasthan.
Kolkata now appears to have hit the right balance – they have a good sense of experience and youth in both the bowling and batting departments. In the last match, captain Dinesh Karthik used as many as 7 bowlers, showing the variety of options they have. In Sunil Narine, Pat Cummins, and Kuldeep Yadav, Kolkata has three dependable bowlers. Then, all-rounder Andre Russell, along with young pacers Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti only add variety to this unit. Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy, too, could be a surprise package.
Kolkata’s batting order is settled with Shubman Gill and Nitish Rana doing good work at the top, followed by Dinesh Karthik, Eoin Morgan, and Andre Russell. This team will, hence, be hard to beat indeed.
Rajasthan Royals vs Kolkata Knight Riders: Cricket Betting Tips
In the last 5 matches between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan has won just one game and lost 4. Thus, even though they have started brilliantly this season, they are up against a side that starts as favorites.
The pitch at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium is a good one. It assists the seam bowlers and also turns a little as the game progresses. There might be some dew but 170-180 should be a winning total batting first on this ground.
Rajasthan is too top-heavy and for them to win this game, they will need another special from Sanju Samson or Steve Smith. Kolkata is more balanced on all fronts and thus has the best chance of winning this clash. Thus, back the Kolkata Knight Riders to pull off another victory against Rajasthan in this match-up.
