The Wizards will take on Pistons in their third consecutive game on the road today night at Little Caesars Arena, with Washington aiming to snap their four-game losing streak while the Detroit hoping to continue their lately found good momentum having won five of their last seven games.
Despite Bradley Beal scoring 29 points on Saturday, the Washington suffered 128-111 defeat on the road by Memphis in their last game. The Wizards started the game well and took a 7-points lead in the initial minutes, then lost the momentum and trailed by 5 points in the first quarter.
The club were trailed by 15-points in the first half and their deficit grew to 20 at the end of the third quarter. Then Wizards bounced back in fourth quarter but the points gap was too large for the club to overcome.
In another game, the Detroit Pistons defeated the Houston Rockets 115-107 on Saturday night thanks to Luke Kennard (22 points) and Derrick Rose (20 points). There was one-to-one battle between the both teams in the first half but Pistons took a good lead by double figures for most of the second half.
Houston bounced back and went on a 9-2 run to reduce the gap to 112-107 with 41 seconds remaining. Then, Tony Snell and Bruce Brown contributed three free throws to seal the victory for Detroit Pistons.
Detroit are in good form for the last few weeks and are placed ninth in the Eastern Conference standings with a 11-15 record. The Pistons will have to work twice as hard this game in order to remain in contention for the eighth and final playoff spot with nine games remaining. The club are below average in scoring offence and in scoring defense, scored 108.9 points per game and allowed 108.7 points per game this season.
The Wizards also enters into this contest after dropping four straight games and the eighth in the last ten games. The team is in a terrible run of form this season and sits 12th in the East with a 7-17 record. The Washington are good in scoring offense but are worst in defensive end, scored 117.4 points per game and allowed 122.4 points per game.
