The Phoenix Suns snapped their three-game losing streak with a close win over Charlotte Hornets this week but got back into the lose column with a 128-114 defeat over the Orlando Magic last night. The New Orleans Pelicans, on the other hand, showed another sluggish and sloppy performance after failing to Dallas Mavericks by a score of 118-97 last game.
The Pelicans started the game well and tied the first quarter at 24-24. The game was close till the third quarter, but Mavericks dominated the fourth quarter to pull clear. They outscored the Pelicans 34-22 in the period to establish a lead they never looked like losing. Brandon Ingram scored 24 points and Jrue Holiday added 18 for the New Orleans, while Luka Doncic scored 33 and Seth Curry chipped in 19 points for the Dallas.
The Phoenix Suns lead by 10-points in the first quarter against Magic, but couldn’t sustain that early lead and trailed by as many as 24 points through the third quarter. There was nothing left for the Suns in the fourth quarter and Magic register a simple victory. Frank Kaminsky led the Suns with 23 points and five rebounds while Devin Booker added 17 points.
The Phoenix are in a terrible run of form for the last few weeks and have won two of its last nine games after starting the season in style at 7-4. Both games were decided by the finest of margins, one match with a 100-98 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves and another match with a 109-104 triumph over the Charlotte Hornets tonight.
The Pelicans are in a disastrous form this season and are on a six-game losing streak. The team are placed second-last in the Western Conference standings with a 6-15 record.
