Panathinaikos vs Valencia Basket – EuroLeague Basketball Betting Tips and Preview

Bottom side Valencia will travel to the OACA Olympic Indoor Hall to face Panathinaikos in the EuroLeague on Friday.

After winning the EuroCup last season, Valencia are in the top-tier competition this time. It’s safe to say that their campaign has not started as they would have liked. After six games, they are rooted to the bottom of the table. Zalgiris are in the last playoff spot, and Valencia are four points below them as it stands. They lost their first five games in the competition, before picking up their first win last Friday against ASVEL.

Valencia beat ASVEL 81-72  courtesy of an impressive team performance. Bojan Dubljevic scored the most points with 13, but other players also stepped up to get the victory. Dubljevic has averaged 13 points per game in the EuroLeague this season, which is the most for any Valencia player. Aside from Dubljevic and Jordan Loyd, other players have faltered on the offensive end. Valencia have scored 72.17 points per game on average, which is the third-worst tally in the league.

In the Liga ACB, their situation is better. Valencia have won three league games, and they are in eighth place. They have finished in the top five for the last two seasons and won the league title in 2017. Courtesy of that success they played in the EuroLeague in 2017 and finished ninth in the regular season. Coach Jaume Ponsarnau will be keen to make the playoffs, but it is looking like a remote possibility as of now.

Panathinaikos are on a great run of form, and they have lost just once in their last six games. In contrast to Valencia, their side is in good spirits right now. Panathinaikos faced Ermis Agias in their last game in the Greek Basket League and claimed a 110-68 win. Six players were in double figures for them, headlined by Deshawn Thomas and Tyrese Rice who both scored 14.

In their last EuroLeague game, Panathinaikos faced Anadolu Efes. They won 86-70 against last year’s runners-up to rise in the table. Tyrese Rice scored 18 points against Anadolu, and Jimmer Fredette added 11. Fredette and Nick Calathes are the leading scorers in the EuroLeague. Panathinaikos are now ninth in the table. They finished sixth last season and lost to Real Madrid in the first round of the playoffs.

They have been flawless on the domestic stage so far. Panathinaikos have won all their six games in the league and are in the first place. After Olympiakos’ demotion to the second division, Panathinaikos are in a strong place to win the league title. They are the three-time defending champions of the Greek Basket League.

Panathinaikos vs Valencia Basket Betting Tips

Valencia are in a bad run, and Panathinaikos should take advantage to beat them on Friday. They should win comfortably, and by a margin of more than 10 points. Valencia’s offence is one of the worst this season, and they should score under 80 points in the game.
