Table toppers Philadelphia will take on Orlando City at the Orlando City Stadium in the MLS on Wednesday.
Philadelphia are in the first position in the Eastern Conference right now. They have won 9 out of their 19 games and have 32 points. But the first spot is not a lock by any stretch. All three of D. C. United, Montreal Impact, and Atlanta United are within three points of Philadelphia. Atlanta have played two fewer games, which gives them a strong chance of overtaking Philadelphia.
Despite being in the first place, Philadelphia’s form has been patchy in recent weeks. They have won just twice in their last six league games. D. C. United knocked them out in the US Open Cup fourth round last month. They will need to stitch up a winning run if they want to hold on to the top spot. Philadelphia have failed to win any of their last three games in all competitions. Their previous match was a 4-2 loss to NYC FC in the MLS.
NYC dominated the game and took the win easily even though Philadelphia scored the opening goal. Philadelphia possesses the best attack in the conference as they have scored 34 goals this season. Kacper Przybylko has been their top scorer with six goals to his name. Their defense has been a worry recently. They have failed to keep a clean sheet in the last seven games.

Opponents Orlando City are 11 points below Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference. They are in eighth place and just two points below Toronto in seventh place. The race to get into the playoffs is tight, and Orlando are in the thick of it. Orlando have done well in the last month or so. They have won four out of their previous five games in all competitions. The only loss was a 1-0 defeat at the hands of D. C. United last week.
Orlando’s last game was against Columbus Crew. Christopher Mueller and Tesho Akindele scored to hand Orlando a 2-0 victory. The front three in Orlando’s lineup have been deadly this season. Left winger Nani is their top scorer, and he has scored eight goals this season. Mueller and Akindele are the other members of that trio, and they have combined for ten goals.
Toronto have played a game more than Orlando, which means that a win against Philadelphia would put Orlando in seventh place. These two sides will meet again in a couple of days to play the reverse fixture at the Talen Energy Stadium. A duo of wins in these two matches would be valuable to either side.
Orlando City vs Philadelphia Union Prediction
Philadelphia will go into the game as the favorites to pick up the three points. They should get back to winning ways at the expense of Orlando City. The game should have more than 2.5 goals in total. Both sides should score, but Philadelphia should get the win and consolidate their position in the conference.
