Olympiacos vs Valencia Basket Betting Tips and Preview – Basketball EuroLeague 2019/2020

Olympiacos will look for their first EuroLeague win of the season when they host Valencia at the Peace and Friendship Stadium on Saturday.

Olympiacos faced ASVEL in their first EuroLeague game and succumbed to an 82-63 loss. After the first quarter, Olympiacos held a 24-21 lead, but ASVEL fought back. They dominated the second quarter 19-9 and did not let go of their lead from then on. Olympiacos failed to generate traction on offence, and their tally of 63 points was poor. They averaged 77.5 points per game in the EuroLeague regular season last campaign.

Georgios Printezis top-scored for Olympiacos against ASVEL with 15 points to his name. Only two other players managed to score more than 10 points. After the loss against ASVEL, coach David Blatt parted ways with the club. Kestutis Kemzura is in the dugout now for the Greek side. Last season, Olympiacos won 15 games in the regular season but failed to get into the playoff spots due to an inferior points difference. Zalgiris and Saski Baskonia both won the same number of games and played in the postseason. As for the domestic league, Olympiacos have been fighting for titles consistently until disaster struck last season.

Olympiacos and Panathinaikos have always had an intense rivalry, but it boiled over last season. Due to some disagreements over refereeing decisions, Olympiacos forfeited their playoff series against Panathinaikos. The Greek Basket League took action and relegated them from the top flight. Also, all the regular-season wins were taken away from Olympiacos. As a result, they are competing in the Greek A2 Basket League this season. Olympiacos won their first league game 74-56 against Triton. But they started the season on -6 points, so they are still last despite the opening win.

Compared to Olympiacos, Valencia have far less controversy in their franchise. They have started the Liga Endesa well, winning two of their first three games. Only Real Madrid and Burgos are above them in the table as of now. Valencia won the league in 2017 when they beat Real Madrid 3-1 in the final series. Since then they have finished fifth and third in the league.

Valencia faced defending champions CSKA Moscow in their first EuroLeague game of the season. CSKA claimed a 96-71 win in that match. Mike Tobey had 14 points and 6 rebounds in the game for Valencia.

Valencia’s last game came in the league when they faced Real Betis. They raced to a lead in the first quarter and never let go to record a 95-72 win. Brock Motum and Bojan Dubljevic both scored 14 points for Valencia. Five players were in double figures for Valencia in that game.

Olympiacos vs Valencia Basket Betting Tips

Olympiacos are in a bit of disarray, and Valencia should use that to get their first EuroLeague win of the season. The game will be close, and the margin of victory will be less than 10 points. But the Spanish side have enough offensive firepower to beat Olympiacos on Saturday.
