Nimes will hope to get out of the relegation zone when they host Monaco at the Stade des Costieres on Saturday.
Nimes Match Form
After two successive league losses, Nimes are in the bottom three in Ligue 1. They are in 19th place, three points below Amiens who are in the relegation playoff position. A win in their last game could have changed that.
They traveled to face Saint-Etienne and succumbed to a 2-1 loss. Saint-Etienne scored twice in the first half which set them on their way to the three points. Zinedine Ferhat made it 2-1 for Nimes, but they could not snatch an equalizer.
The loss against Saint-Etienne means that Nimes have won just once in their last five Ligue 1 games. One of the major reason for that has been their weakness in front of goal. Nimes have scored just 16 league goals in 21 games, which is the lowest tally in the league. Dijon are the joint-lowest scorers in the Ligue 1 along with Nimes. Coincidentally Nimes lost 5-0 to Dijon in the French Cup last week.
It was an embarrassing loss for Nimes, and they failed to bounce back against Saint-Etienne. Their last league win came against Stade Reims courtesy of a 2-0 scoreline. Renaud Ripart and Yassine Benrahou scored the two goals for Nimes in that game.
Nimes finished ninth in the league last season, and this campaign has seen a sharp drop. A poor attack has been the major reason for this. The likes of Ripart, Ferhat, and Romain Philippoteaux need to step up in the coming weeks.
Monaco Match Form
Monaco started the season poorly, but they are now safe from relegation by a fair distance. Currently, they lie in 13th place, 11 points clear of the relegation playoff place. However, Monaco have lost their last two league games in succession. The first of those was against leaders Paris Saint-Germain as they slipped to a 4-1 defeat.
This weekend Strasbourg were the visitors, and they claimed a 3-1 win at the Stade Louis II. Despite having less possession, Strasbourg raced into a 3-0 lead. Stevan Jovetic’s goal was nothing more than a consolation in the end.
Monaco had 60% possession in the game, but they had just 3 shots on target compared to 7 from Strasbourg. They still have a slim chance of European football, but there are too many teams ahead of them right now. That being said, Montpellier in fourth place are just four points clear.
Two of the last three meetings between these sides have ended in draws. However, Nimes won the other game by a 1-0 margin last season.
Nimes vs Monaco Betting Tips
A similar result is unlikely this time, as Monaco will be the favorites to get the three points. Nimes struggle to score goals, and this game will be a tight one. The total goals should be under 2.5 in total, and Monaco have a strong chance of keeping a clean sheet.
