- Date: Wednesday, February 05, 2020

After affecting a 5-0 whitewash in the T20I series – the first team in history to do so – Team India will now move on to their next assignment on their tour of New Zealand. The two teams will now feature on a 3-match ODI series which begins on February 5.
Having already gotten familiar with the conditions and tasted success, India will be confident of continuing their form in the ODIs as well. New Zealand, meanwhile, will be desperate to turn their fortunes around.
India Match Form
India will have similar personnel from the T20I series for the ODIs too. Captain Virat Kohli, along with Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, are expected to be the batting mainstays for India. Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey will be manning the middle-order. It will be interesting to see if Rishabh Pant gets any opportunities in the ODIs lower down the order as he is an impact player.
India’s bowling is quite well-settled and Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Navdeep Saini should be their first-choice seamers. Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja will be taking care of the spin duties.
New Zealand Match Form
The Kiwis were quite inconsistent in the T20I series. Their batting was shoddy and bowling was all over the place. The return of James Neesham will help the side as the all-rounder provides with his big-hitting down the order and is also a useful seam bowler. The other impact players from the bat for New Zealand in this match are likely to be captain Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor and wicket-keeper Tom Latham who is a solid presence.
The Kiwis have been poor with the bowling and will be hoping that their spin duo of Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi continue to do the good work. Scott Kuggeleijn and Hamish Bennett will have to be really good against this strong Indian batting unit.
New Zealand vs India, 1st ODI Cricket Betting Tips
The last time India toured New Zealand for an ODI series, they ended up winning 4-1. And since they have already won the T20I series this time, India will be quite confident of replicating their success in the other format too.
Seddon Park in Hamilton is the venue for the first ODI. It is a high-scoring ground and totals of 300-plus have been achieved on 4 occasions here with the highest one being 363-4 by West Indies against New Zealand. The average total on batting 1st at Seddon Park is 233 but a good score by the team batting first in this game should be around 280-300.
India will begin favorites for this game as they are on a winning spree and on the right zone – they have the belief they can win from any situation. New Zealand will obviously have the home advantage and may resurrect their fortunes. But their weak bowling and the lack of support in the batting order is likely to cost them. Expect India to clinch the first ODI.
