The 2019-20 NBA season is all set to make a grand return on July 30 after it went on hiatus on March 11 because of the ongoing pandemic.
The new season will resume when Zion Williamson and his New Orleans Pelicans “host” the Utah Jazz at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, Orlando (Bay Lake). This will be the first of eight games to help finalize 2020 NBA playoff seeding.
The Utah Jazz were one of the best teams in the NBA before the season came to an abrupt halt. They had won five of their last six games and were working like a well-oiled machine. The good news is that both Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell have fully recovered from their illnesses but there’s still doubt if they will be at their hundred percent bets on the game night. The wrist injury to Bojan Bogdanović has certainly hurt the Utah Jazz as he was the team’s second-leading scorer this season.
Utah has a strong defense, with Rudy Gobert leading the charge. However their slow offence and the absence of Bogdanović might hurt them.
New Orleans Pelicans
New Orleans Pelicans superstar Zion Williamson has been cleared to rejoin the team ahead of Thursday’s opener against Utah and that will a huge boost to them. He will certainly be the one to watch out for and can be the game-changer.
The Pelicans are a young and fast team and it will be interesting to see how they hold up against the experience of Utah. The team will be dark horse for the entire season as long as they have Williamson in their ranks. Then they also have exciting young guns – All-Star Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball – which only strengthens their core.
New Orleans Pelicans vs Utah Jazz NBA Betting Tips
It will be interesting to see how the game between New Orleans Pelicans and Utah Jazz shapes up. Both the teams are expected to be a little rusty after a gap of more than four months.
However, Utah should have the edge as they are the experienced an in-form team. As mentioned earlier, Utah won five of its last six games before the season suspension. Furthermore, all the six of those matches were against teams from the East.
Meanwhile, New Orleans won their last two games after dropping three-straight contests. They are unpredictable and rely heavily on a few stars. Another point worth noting is that the Pelicans are 1-2 this season against Utah and their only win against them was a wild 138-132 overtime shootout in January. Also, Utah have an 8-3 lead over the Pelicans over the last 11 meetings.
Thus, it would be prudent to bet on the Utah Jazz for this clash. The Pelicans might spring a surprise if Zion Williamson gives his best but Utah still has the edge.
