Moreover, the last time these two sides met, Cairns had registered a 109:98 on the road win. Thus, Sydney would have to be wary as the Taipans play well on the road. One can also not forget that Sydney’s form has been inconsistent of late and they have lost 3 of their last 5 games.

The home-court advantage and the terrific recent form, though, make New Zealand Breakers the favorites for this game.
Illawara Hawks vs SEM Phoenix
Match Info: SUNDAY, JANUARY, 12, WIN ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE, 5 PM
Round 15 will close with the bottom two teams taking on each other in what could be an interesting clash. Illawarra Hawks and South East Melbourne have met twice this season and in both instances, Melbourne emerged victoriously. Unfortunately, South East Melbourne has slipped badly in the last few weeks and are coming off two back-to-back losses. In their last game, they were defeated 92:97 at home by the Breakers. They are now 8th on the table with 8 wins and 11 losses.
Illawarra Hawks, too, are coming off two losses on the row and haven’t budged from the 9th place. In their last match, they were thumped 96:102 against Adelaide on the road. They only have 5 wins in their kitty along with 15 losses.
The Hawks are likely to be the underdogs in this match despite the home-court advantage. They have been the worst-performing team of the season and cannot be dependent on. South East Melbourne, despite their slip, have the potential to still rise up the ladder. Thus, expect a high-scoring match and back South East Melbourne as the winners.
