Table-toppers Sydney Kings will host the Brisbane Bullets on Saturday in the National Basketball League.
After playing four games, the Kings stand undefeated so far. In the first game, they claimed a 79-71 win over the Cairns Taipans. After trailing by double digits in the game, they staged a great comeback in the fourth quarter to get the opening win. The next game saw a comprehensive 102-80 victory over the Adelaide 36ers. Then Sydney played the New Zealand Breakers twice in succession and got the win on each occasion.
Unsurprisingly, Casper Ware has been the star performer for Sydney so far this season. He has scored 77 points so far in the four games he has played. Along with Ware, Andrew Bogut has also been an influential player. Bogut was crowned as the club MVP last season. A former NBA champion, Bogut has averaged 9 points and 11.8 rebounds so far this campaign. A strong defensive player, Bogut provides great security around the rim. Jae’Sean Tate and Kevin Lisch are also providing useful contributions for the Kings.
The Kings reached the playoffs after a five-year drought last season. They went to the semi-finals where Melbourne United beat them 2-0. But it was an improvement nonetheless compared to the past few seasons. Andrew Gaze was sacked after last season, and Will Weaver has taken over the coaching duties this campaign. Making the playoffs was their goal coming in, but their start suggests that bigger things could be in store for them.
The Bullets have also played four games, but they have won just two. After starting the season with two wins, Brisbane have dropped since. They beat the Hawks and the Taipans in the first two games to start the season well. Both those wins were by considerable margins, but so were the defeats which followed. The SEM Phoenix and the Adelaide 36ers beat the Bullets in succession in the last two games.
Phoenix were ruthless in that loss, and they beat Brisbane by a margin of 20 points. In the next game, Adelaide crossed the 100-point barrier again against the Bullets. They need to shore up their defence in the coming games. Lamar Patterson has been great on the offensive end, and he has scored more than 20 points in three games. The likes of Nathan Sobey and Matt Hodgson have also helped in carrying the scoring burden.
Brisbane made the playoffs last time at coach Andrej Lemanis’ third attempt. Aside from repeating that, reaching further in the playoffs will be the goal for the Bullets. Currently, fourth in the table, they will hope to get into the playoffs spot soon.
Sydney Kings vs Brisbane Bullets Betting Tips
Sydney are in stunning form, and they should continue that and get the win over Brisbane. The Bullets are short of confidence after two consecutive losses and Sydney should exploit that. The total points should be under 226.5, and the Kings should get a comfortable victory.
