The Sydney Kings have finally made their entry into the NBL Grand Final after 12 years in thrilling fashion. They won their third semi-final encounter against Melbourne United 89-87 and will now be facing defending champions Perth Wildcats in the Grand Final series. Game one in the best of five game series will be played at Qudos Bank Arena this Sunday.
This promises to be a lip-smacking final series as the best two teams of the season will now fighting it off for the crown.
Sydney Kings Match Form
Sydney, who created history by becoming the only team to go through a regular season on top of the ladder, have been the best team of the season without a doubt. To maintain that kind of form for such a long time speaks volumes about their consistency and team strength.
The main stars who have done well for Sydney this season have been Casper Ware, along with Jae’Sean Tate, Andrew Bogut, Brad Newley, Shaun Bruce and Didi Louzada. Even in the last semi-final game against United, Ware, Tate and Louzada managed to score 45 points between them. It is this consistency that has made Sydney so strong and they will be looking at their regular stars to deliver one final time in the Grand Finals.
Perth Wildcats Match Form
Perth Wildcats made their second straight entry into the Grand Finals after defeating Cairns Taipans 93:82 in comprehensive fashion in game three of their semi-final series. They finished 2nd in the points table and would be eager to defend their crown.
Perth has been served well by a battery of performers through the lengthy season. Bryce Cotton, Terrico White and Nicholas Kay have been the standout stars for them. In the last semi-final match too White was top-scorer with 26 goals and was ably supported by Kay who netted 24 goals. Then there is Clint Steindl, Miles Plumlee and Mitchell Norton who have done a superb job as the support stars.
It will be interesting to see if these performers can deliver again in the finals series.
Sydney Kings vs Perth Wildcats NBL Final Basketball Betting Tips
So far in the season, Sydney Kings and Perth Wildcats have clashed 4 times and Perth has maintained an edge by winning 3 of those games. Sydney though cannot be disregarded simply because of the way they have performed as a unit. Moreover, this will be a home game for them and thus they will enjoy that advantage.
None of the 4 games that have been played between the two sides this season has been too close. Will than change in the Grand Finals? One expects so. Sydney will be itching to take the lead in the finals and win their first championship since 2005. It will not be easy against a robust Perth who will be chasing their 10th NBL championship and fourth in five years. However, the home-court advantage, along with their consistency makes them favorites for this Grand Final series.
This is too close a game to call but we are backing Sydney Kings to take the lead in the first match of the Grand Final.
