NBA Basketball Denver Nuggets vs Phoenix Suns Betting Tips and Preview

The Nuggets will host the Suns in their first home game of the new NBA season.

Carrying over from last season, the Nuggets recorded a 108-100 win over Portland in their opening game. They were trailing going into the fourth quarter, but a strong performance saw them get the win. Nikola Jokic had 20 points and 13 rebounds in the game for Denver. Four other players scored more than 10 points, and it was a great team performance. Impressively, every player who played scored five or more points. New signing Jerami Grant scored nine points on his debut.

The Nuggets were prolific from beyond the arc, and they shot 56.3% on three-pointers. They recorded 24 assists compared to just 13 from the Trail Blazers. After a disastrous third quarter in which Portland took the lead, they fought back in the fourth to get the win. Jokic was the star, and he made the impact despite playing just 25 minutes. Foul trouble kept him on the bench for a while in the first half, but he delivered when it mattered for the Nuggets.

Denver have almost the same squad this time, and the expectations are high for coach Michael Malone. The likes of Jokic and Jamal Murray will headline the season. Murray was relatively quiet against Portland, and he scored 14 points. The roster is very deep, and the team has continuity from last season when they won 54 games. Another strong season is on the cards in Denver.

The Phoenix Suns faced the Sacramento Kings in their first game and recorded a 124-95 win. After the first half the Kings led by five points, but the Suns exploded after the interval. They outscored Sacramento 70-36 in the second half to register a comprehensive victory. Devin Booker had a strong game with 22 points and 10 assists. Ricky Rubio made his debut for the franchise, and he had 11 points and 11 assists. The Suns lacked a creator last season, and Rubio can be that person this time.

DeAndre Ayton scored 8, and Kelly Oubre Jr. added 21 for the Suns. It was an impressive performance for the Suns. Phoenix won only 19 games last season, and improvement will be a must for coach Monty Williams. Rubio looks to be a great signing, and he spurred the comeback in the third quarter.

Despite the big win, the Suns are staying grounded. Devin Booker said “Not too high, not too low” after the game, and they are taking it one game at a time. Rubio also echoed his teammate. “We have a lot of potential, it is just one game,” said the Spaniard after the game.

Denver Nuggets vs Phoenix Suns Betting Tips

The Suns looked good against Sacramento, but the Nuggets will be the favorites to beat Phoenix. Denver are great at home and a comfortable win is on the cards. The total points should be Over 226.5, and the Nuggets should record a win by more than ten points.
