Melbourne United slipped last week in Round 9 where they lost two games in a row on the road. This brought their terrific 6-game winning streak to a screeching halt. United will thus be happy to be back at home where they host Adelaide 36ers in the all-important Round 10 clash at the Melbourne Arena on Saturday. Melbourne is now 4th on the points table with 7 wins and 6 losses.
Adelaide 36ers, meanwhile, have found some much-needed form. They have won back-to-back games against New Zealand Breakers and Perth Wildcats and would be high on confidence. They are now 5th on the points table with 6 wins and 6 losses.
However, taking on United at home won’t be easy at all for the 36ers. Especially as their record on the road hasn’t been great this season. The two teams had clashed at the same venue earlier in the season where Melbourne United had registered a comfortable 109:90 victory.
Despite those two losses, Melbourne United has got it in them to come back on track. They have a very good team and they have proved their mettle in this season already. Melo Trimble, the team’s superstar, has been in great form with a PPG of 22.31. When United had met 36ers, earlier this season, Trimble had scored a sensational 32 points in the game to lead his team to victory. He would again be counted on to make an impact.
The other two players to watch out for from United would be Chris Goulding (19.33 PPG) who has also been terrific and Shawn Long (18.46 PPG).
Meanwhile, Adelaide 36ers too have a solid bunch. They took down No.2 placed Perth Wildcats 99: 88 and that really holds them in good stead.
Jerome Randle (18.83 PPG) has been a steady performer for the team and would be looking to have a strong say in this game. Daniel Johnson (17.67 PPG) has been the other consistent player for the team – he had an outstanding game against Perth where he scored 29 points. Eric Griffin (14.08 PPG) is also expected to do well in this game.
Melbourne United vs Adelaide 36ers – NBL Betting Tips
On paper, there is not much separating Melbourne United and Adelaide 36ers as they have had similar numbers in the season so far. However, United will begin as favorites against 36ers on their Round 10 clash. In the last 5 matches between these two teams, Melbourne United has won 4. Moreover, one cannot overlook the poor on the road record of Adelaide 36ers this season. Add to it the fact that they have frustratingly lost quite a few games they should have won.
Thus, back the Melbourne United to take full use of their home advantage and win this contest against the Adelaide 36ers.
It should be a close game with the total points scored being 200-210.
