Lille will keep their top three charges alive when they face Brest on the road on Saturday in Ligue 1.
Lille Match Form
Lille are currently in fourth place as they look to get into the top three. Those teams will qualify for the Champions League come next season. Rennes are in third place, and they are just a point clear of Lille. Courtesy of four league wins in their last five attempts, Lille has kept the pace with Lille. Their only defeat in that time came against second-placed Marseille.
Since that defeat, Lille have rattled off three consecutive wins without conceding a single goal. After beating Toulouse and Nantes, they faced Lyon at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy last week. Lyon were in great form, and they were looking to get into the European picture. Lille claimed an impressive 1-0 win to extend their winning streak. Loic Remy scored the only goal of the game in the first half. At the end of the game, Lyon had 57% possession, but Lille walked away with the three points.
Lille have now kept a clean sheet in five out of their last six league games. A stark improvement in their defence has resulted in the recent string of wins. Only three sides in the entire Ligue 1 have conceded fewer goals than Lille this season. After a disappointing Champions League campaign this time, Lille will hope to make it and do better next time around.
Brest Match Form
As for Brest, they are slowly slipping into troubled waters. After last weekend’s defeat against Reims, they are now just seven points above the relegation playoff place. Brest started the season well after gaining promotion, and they were comfortably in the mid-table positions. But two successive losses have dropped them down to 14th spot. Manager Oliver Dall’Oglio will be confident of surviving in the first season nevertheless. However, they still need a couple of wins to seal top-flight status for another campaign.
Brest faced Reims in their last game and lost 1-0. El Bilal Toure opened the scoring for Reims in the first half. They had a man sent off in the second half, which gave Brest an advantage. But they failed to make Reims pay and could not salvage anything from the game. Brest’s last win was a 3-2 triumph over Saint-Etienne last month. Since then they have scored twice and claimed just one point from the next three games.
The last meeting between these two sides ended in a win for Lille. Victor Osimhen scored the only goal of the game as Lille won 1-0. He has not scored in three games, but Lille fans will be confident in their striker getting back on track.
Brest vs Lille Soccer Betting Tips
Lille will be the favorites to get the three points and extend their winning streak. They are hot on the tails of Rennes, and another win would keep the pressure. The total goals should be Over 2.5 in this game, and both sides will find the back of the net.
