Monaco will travel to the Stade Jean-Bouin to take on Angers in the Ligue 1 on Saturday.
Both sides are close to each other in the table. Monaco are in 11th place, and they can climb into the top half with a win on Saturday. Angers have the same points as Monaco, but an inferior goal difference sees them a place below in 12th.
Monaco Match Form
Monaco started the season near the relegation zone, but they have climbed up as the season progressed. They have won the last two games, and three out of the previous four as well.
Last week they faced Amiens and recorded a comprehensive 3-0 win. The first half was goalless, but Wissam Ben Yedder scored to give his side the lead. Guillermo Maripan and Keita Balde scored in quick succession to seal the win for Monaco. They dominated the game in most aspects and had 69% possession. Monaco had eight efforts on target compared to just two from Amiens.
Ben Yedder has been brilliant for Monaco since signing in the summer. He has scored 11 league goals in 14 appearances so far. The Frenchman has been responsible for more than half of his side’s goals in the Ligue 1. Strike partner Islam Slimani is sidelined due to injury, which has forced Leonardo Jardim to tweak the formation. Cesc Fabregas started against Amiens, and he should retain his place against Angers. Balde and Gelson Martins were on either wing, and the duo is also expected to start on Saturday.
Angers Match Form
Angers have the same points as Monaco, but their recent form has not been good. Three defeats on the bounce have seen them fall in the bottom half of the table. Their last win was a 1-0 result against Nimes as Thomas Mangani scored the only goal of the game. Since then, they have suffered losses against Nice, Marseille, and Rennes. They have conceded seven goals in that time, and have scored just twice themselves.
Last week Rennes were their opponents and Angers succumbed to a 2-1 defeat. Rachid Alioui scored the goal for Angers, but it was little more than a consolation at that point. Angers did not have a shot on target aside from their goal in the game. They had 57% possession in the game but failed to create much in the Rennes penalty box.
Angers vs Monaco Betting Tips & H2H
In the head to head record, Monaco have lost just once in the last six meetings. They have won four times in that span, and Angers have claimed just one win. Their last meeting ended in a 2-2 draw in March. Monaco came back from a 0-2 deficit to claim a point on the back of a brace from Radamel Falcao.
Another close contest should be in store at the Stade Jean-Bouin. Monaco are on a good run, and they are favourites to get the close win. Both sides will score, and the total goals should be over 2.5 in the game.
