Lecce will host Torino on Sunday in the Serie A as they look to get away from the relegation trouble.
Lecce Match Form
After 21 games of the season, Lecce find themselves in 17th place. SPAL in 18th position are just a point below, and the relegation battle is a tight one right now. Lecce finished second in the Serie B last season to gain promotion to the top flight. They started this campaign brightly, but recent results have seen a drop in the table. Now avoiding relegation will be the top priority for coach Fabio Liverani.
Lecce’s last game ended in a heavy 3-0 defeat at the hands of Verona. Cristian Dell’Orco was sent off in the game to compound Lecce’s misery, and he will be suspended against Torino. Lecce’s last win came against Fiorentina in the first week of December. Since that win, they have gone eight matches without a victory.
Two weeks ago they faced Inter and claimed a commendable point against the title challengers. However, the point did not do much considering the lack of wins in general. Lecce have lost four out of their last five league games.
They have conceded 42 league goals this season, which is the highest tally in the league. Clean sheets have been very hard to come by this season, and they have had to rely on their attack for wins. Marco Mancosu is their top scorer this season with six goals. Other than Mancosu, no other Lecce player has scored five or more this campaign.
Torino Match Form
Lecce will face Torino on Sunday who are sitting in 12th place. Last season they finished 7th, but the drop in performance has been stark this time. Two successive losses in the league have seen Torino fall into the bottom half of the table. In their last two games in all competitions, Torino have conceded a staggering 11 goals. Milan beat them 4-2 in the Coppa Italia quarter-final on Wednesday. But the more humiliating result came on the weekend against Atalanta.
Torino took a 7-0 thrashing on their home turf as Atalanta ran riot. By the final whistle Torino had just nine men on the pitch as Armando Izzo and Sasa Lukic were sent off. It was a terrible loss, and their home fans were left shell-shocked. Coach Walter Mazzarri will need them to bounce back as soon as possible.
Lecce and Torino have met just once in the last decade as Lecce were in the second division for a large part of that time. Torino lost that clash as Lecce claimed a 2-1 victory in September. Diego Farias and Marco Mancosu got the goals for Lecce on that day.
Lecce vs Torino Betting Tips
However, a repeat of that result is not likely this time. Despite being on a losing run, Torino should bounce back and claim all three points on Sunday. Lecce are leaky at the back and Torino will exploit that to claim the victory. The total goals should be over 2.5 in this game.
