Lazio will hope to keep their winning streak going when they host Napoli at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday.
Lazio Match Form
Surprising many people, Lazio have emerged as the third horse in the Serie A this season. They are behind both Juventus and Inter by six points, but Lazio have been brilliant in their own right. Since drawing with Atalanta in October, Lazio have rattled off nine straight league wins. That run has increased their cushion in third place to four points. The top four get Champions League qualification, and Lazio should aim to get there at the end of the season.
Aside from the league, Lazio beat Juventus 3-1 in the Supercoppa Italiana. That win was the second time they have beat the defending champions this season. Lazio’s last game came against Brescia in the Serie A. Mario Balotelli scored to give Brescia the lead, but a red card for Andrea Cistana turned the tide in favor of Lazio. Ciro Immobile netted before half-time to equalise for Lazio. He scored again in stoppage time to secure the points for Lazio.
Immobile has had a great season so far. He has recorded 19 goals and 5 assists in 17 league appearances so far. Luis Alberto has contributed 11 assists from midfield, and the duo has been the major force behind Lazio’s attack. Lazio’s tally of 40 league goals is only bettered by Atalanta this season in the Serie A. Their defence is one of the best as well, and only Juventus have conceded fewer goals so far.
Napoli Match Form
Napoli have not scaled great heights this season. Many expected them to occupy the position where Lazio are, but it has not turned out that way. Napoli are 8th in the table, out of the European picture at the moment. The poor start paved the way for Carlo Ancelotti’s departure, and Gennaro Gattuso is the replacement in the dugout. In the three games under Gattuso Napoli have won once and lost twice.
The win came in his second game in charge when they beat Sassuolo 2-1. In their last game, Napoli faced Inter and fell to a 3-1 defeat. Arkadiusz Milik scored for Napoli to make it interesting, but Lautaro Martinez’s goal made the game safe for Inter in the end. Napoli are 11 points behind Roma in fourth place, and a Champions League berth looks very tough now. They finished second last season with a final tally of 79 points.
Lazio vs Napoli H2H & Betting Tips
Napoli have dominated the head to head record between the two sides recently. They are unbeaten in the last eight league meetings, winning seven of them. Lazio’s last win in Serie A came way back in 2015.
However, they can change the tide now as they are the favorites to pick up the three points in front of their home fans. The total goals should be Over 2.5 in this one, and both sides should score. But Lazio’s attack is irresistible, and they should get the win.
