Valencia vs Eibar Match Preview
Valencia will look to kick-off the new decade with a bang when they host Eibar at the Mestalla in the La Liga on Saturday.
Valencia Match Form
Los Ches are struggling when compared to last season, where they finished 4th and qualified for the UEFA Champions League. They did well so far, topping their group and are set to play Atalanta in the round of 16 next month.
However, next year’s qualification looks unlikely unless they win the competition at the moment. Albert Celades’ men are currently 8th in the La Liga, with 28 points from 18 games. They are level on points with Athletic Bilbao while Getafe are 2 points ahead.
The elusive Champions League spot is 4 points away, currently occupied by Atletico Madrid. Thus, a top-four finish is not entirely impossible, however, Valencia have to do better than drawing 1-1 with Valladolid, which they did in the last game before the winter break.
Eibar Match Form
Eibar are struggling as well albeit in the bottom half of the table. After securing a 12th-placed finish last season, they are languishing at 16th place this time around.
José Luis Mendilibar’s men have 19 points from 15 games and are 4 points clear of RCD Mallorca in 17th and more importantly, 5 points clear of Celta Vigo, who occupy the dreaded relegation spot.
However, Los Armeros are level on points with Alaves and trail Valladolid by a solitary point. Thus, they can climb with a few positive results but the Basque club would prefer to do it now than wait to be dragged into a relegation battle.
After beating Granada 3-0 in the previous game, Eibar will be confident heading into this one despite the difference in the nature of the opposition.
In terms of team news, Celades will welcome the return of Rodrigo Moreno and Jasper Cillessen with the latter set to replace Domenech in goal. However, Manu Vallejo and Kang-in Lee are doubts for the game while Goncalo Guedes and Cristiano Piccino are ruled out.
Coming to their opponents, Fabian Orellana is ruled out due to suspension while Sebastian Corchia, Victor Sanchez Mata and Matias Vargas are doubts for the visitors.
H2H & Valencia vs Eibar Betting Tips
Looking at head-to-head, Valencia have 3 wins compared to Eibar’s 4 in 10 meetings between the duo. Further, Eibar are unbeaten in the last 5 games with 4 clean sheets in the last 6 clashes.
However, recent form suggests otherwise. Valencia are unbeaten in their last 4 league games while Eibar have lost 3 of their last 5 in the league, thereby the corresponding league positions.
Thus, form and head-to-head point in opposite directions, however, the hosts should have enough to pick all 3 points.
Predicted Valencia XI: Cillessen; Wass, Garay, Gabriel, Gaya; Torres, Parejo, Coquelin, Soler; Sobrino, Soldado
Predicted Eibar XI: Dmitrovic; Tejero, Oliveira, Bigas, Angel; Leon, Escalante, Exposito, Inui; Kike, Enrich
