Espanyol heads into this game after playing out a 2-1 win over Girona at the Estadi Montilivi on Saturday night. Alaves maintained seventh position after conceding a last gasp equalizer in a frustrating 1-1 draw against Leganes at the Estadio Mendizorroza in Sunday’s Spanish La Liga clash.

Espanyol snapped their four-game non-winning streak with a win over Girona. They are languishing at the bottom-half of the table after securing 38 points from 31 games and have registered just one victory in their last five games.

Alaves sits seventh in the league table, just five points behind Getafe for the fourth spot. The club were having an impressive season and were undefeated in six games, picking up 12 points to move the team to fifth place. The team’s performance faltered badly last week picking only one point in the next three contests. They were beaten 2-0 at Sevilla, followed by a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Atlético Madrid and then ended with a draw over Leganes.

The Espanyol have an unusually poor home record for the last few games in the La Liga, winning just one of their last four outings. Alaves, on the other hand, are looking forward to make it to the top six and have lost only one away game of their last four matches in the La Liga.

Despite the worst possible season for Espanyol and the Alaves’s successful season so far, the game is hard to call. Both teams have a high chance of scoring in the game, and it could be an exciting early kickoff on Saturday.

Atletico Madrid is coming off with a 2-0 loss against Barcelona in the Camp Nou on Saturday night. Celta Vigo moved out the relegation zone with a 3-1 win at home to Real Sociedad.

Atletico Madrid have played exceptional football this season and have the best defensive record in the league campaign, conceding only 20 times in their 30 league matches. The club are placed second in the league table, sitting five points ahead of Real Madrid and looking forward to finish runners-up this season.

Celta Vigo’s fighting spirit came to the fore after scoring nine goals in their last three games. As a result, Celta find themselves with seven points out of a possible nine in their last three games and have now moved up to 16th in the table, two points clear of the drop zone.

Atletico Madrid being amongst the top of the table are expected to cruise through easily. Against them, Celta Vigo have a practical zero chance and anything less than a complete win for Atletico would come as a shocker.
