KXIP vs RR
Talk about bad blood and a rematch that everyone would be looking forward to, and you get Rajasthan Vs Punjab. The two teams have had contrasting fortunes this IPL as much was expected of Rajasthan, but they have miserably failed to live up to the expectations while Punjab, on the other hand, have had their crests and troughs but to an extent it won’t be wrong to say that they’ve punched above their weight more often than not.
The biggest question would be whether there would be any repercussions from that infamous mankading incident as it does seem that the event did derail the campaign for Rajasthan. Looking at the two teams, Punjab does seem to have more depth, but the Rajasthan team is coming off a win while Punjab has registered a couple of losses on the trot so it would be interesting to see which team takes the initiative.
Kings XI Punjab
Form Guide(LLWLW)(Last 5 games)
Punjab would be massively disappointed with the way the last two games have gone for them because mostly they’ve lost two games that they should have won. With Rahul scoring a 100 in one and Gayle scoring 99 in the other you expect to team score to be around 200, but this is where Punjab have stumbled big time. The middle order has been found wanting, and they haven’t stepped on the accelerator and taken the game away from the opposition.
They’ve been guilty of being slightly too conservative, and this has hurt them as they have fallen short by 20 odd runs in both matches. If there is one thing they’ll need to work on, then it has to be that. The addition of Tye over Miller was another decision that backfired on them, and we might see Miller making a return in this game.
The player under the spotlight
Sarfaraz has been impressive in patches, but it won’t be wrong to say that Ashwin has probably not shown enough faith in him in situations where quick runs are the order of the day. Admittedly Sarfaraz would be the first to admit that maybe he hasn’t accelerated as well as he could have so that is one thing he would be looking to rectify the next time he gets out in the middle.
Form Guide (WLLWL) (Last 5 games)
Rajasthan would be marching into this game high on confidence on the back of a superb victory over Mumbai Indians. Butler’s form would be a bonus and they would be looking to take advantage of his return to form. The team is still a bit erratic but is starting to come together and perform more consistently. It would be interesting to see if Stokes still faces the axe or finds his way back into the side.
The player under the spotlight
It was Jos Butler’s wicket that changed the course of the match the last time the two teams met. More importantly, it was how Butler got out that enraged quite a few people around the world. With Butler coming off a tremendous 89 off 43 balls he would be eager to right that one wrong from the start of the tournament.
KXIP vs RR Prediction
We can expect the pitch to another sound batting track which would yield a score in the range of 170 and if the team plays some outstanding cricket then maybe even 200. The match will surely be a high scoring one.
The Home team with a settled batting unit needing some minor tweaks. Punjab would be looking to arrest the slide and get back to winning ways, and they start as favorites for this one.
