The Hyderabad team has capitulated in a way not many would have expected it to this Indian Premier League. From looking like one of the more complete teams in the tournament to having one batting collapse after the other has seen Hyderabad plummet down the order in the leader-board.
The batting was top substantial even earlier, but it’s the lack of impact that the openers have had which has become a cause of concern for the team. To add to this, the brain fade decision of dropping Manish Pandey when he has hardly had that much time under his belt indicated a team that was panicking a bit in the last game.
Chennai, on the other hand, are now the runaway favorites to win the tournament as they have displayed such level of consistency that it has become hard to look beyond them. They have their deficiencies and flaws, but they do a great job of covering those up by sticking to their strengths.
Chennai Super Kings
Form Guide (WWWWL)
They’ve had close games, and there have been cases of their middle order bailing them out on multiple occasions, but the team still looks like a well-oiled machine that is thumping oppositions one by one. Rayadu’s form is a cause of concern but knowing you’d expect him to back Rayudu for a few more games at least.
The player under the spotlight
Rayudu’s shock omission from the world cup squad would have caught many by surprise. Admittedly he’s not been in the best of forms lately but has he been so bad that he gets pipped by Vijay Shankar who averages 33 in ODIs? It would be interesting to see which Rayudu turns up for this game, a motivated one or a disheartened one.
Form Guide (LLLWW)
There are some cracks starting to appear in the Hyderabad camp with Warner coming out and saying he was no more a part of the decision-making unit and he didn’t entirely agree with the selection of a few players. Players like Manish Pandey would be surely coming back to the fold after getting dropped in the previous game as they usually bring in a lot of experience and have done really well in the past.
The player under the spotlight
Kane Williamson was the highest run scorer in the IPL last year but this year has been a bit stop and goes for him. He’s needed to perform to provide that calm and stability to the middle and lower order if Sunrisers have to post a good total.
SRH Probable XI: David Warner, Johnny Bairstow, Kane Williamson, Manish Pandey, Vijay Shankar, Deepak Hooda, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rashid Khan, Sandeep Sharma, Siddharth Kaul, Khaleel Ahmed
CSK Probable XI: Shane Watson, Faf Du Plessis, Ambati Rayadu, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Chahar, Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir, Scott Kugeleijen
The pitch in Hyderabad has become a tad slower now and is not as conducive to stroke-play as it was earlier. Sadly for Hyderabad that would again play in the hands of Chennai. A score of around 160 would be really competitive on this pitch.

A slow pitch, just one loss, and opposition going through a rut. CSK start as favorites for this one.
