IPL 2019 RR vs RCB Preview and Prediction

Head to Head:RR 9-8 RCB

RR vs RCB Preview

RCB were thrashed to bits in their previous game against Hyderabad and for once you have to question their selection as well as their team strategy. Dropping Navdeep Saini was questionable but the listless display by the bowlers really left no room to hide for the Bangalore team. Getting smashed for 230 runs in a T20 is a hammering that would take some time to heal and it’s hard to think that the team would have fully recovered by the time they step on the field in Jaipur.

Rajasthan, on the other hand, has suffered heartbreaks after heartbreaks and despite displaying a decent brand of cricket they’re yet to put up even a single W on the board. For Rajasthan it is not a question of team combination, nor is it a question of the form of players, it’s all coming down to winning those crucial mini battles that they’ve been losing with alarming regularity in almost every match.

Coming to play at their fortress in Sawai Mansingh stadium the Rajasthan team would be looking to finally notch up a much-needed win to get on the Leaderboard.

Rajasthan Royals

Form Guide (LLL)

Jaydev Unadkat has had a horror run yet again in IPL and somewhere down the line the team would be looking at options to replace him and maybe give Varun Aaron a chance. The form (or the lack of it) of Steve Smith would also be a cause of concern for the Rajasthan team and maybe sometime in the middle could do him a world of good.

The player under the spotlight

The slower pitches of Chennai and Hyderabad have not really been that conducive to Jos Butler’s free-flowing batting and he hasn’t really gone on to play as he did in the first game. He returns to his favorite hunting ground at Jaipur and would be looking to get back to scoring big runs.

Probable XI: Ajinkya Rahana, Jos Buttler, Steve Smith, Sanju Samson, Ben Stokes, Rahul Tripathi, Shreyas Gopal, Krishnappa Gowtham, Jofra Archer, Varun Aaron, Dhawal Kulkarni

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Form Guide (LLL)

The RCB team were given a royal beating (for the lack of a better word) and this does leave the team at a very crucial juncture. The team constitutes of two of the best batsmen in the world and they would not have liked what happened to their team in the previous encounter. It would be a true test of RCB’s willpower to see what they do and how they bounce back from this. Navdeep Saini needs to make a comeback as well to the squad as his pace could be of use at Jaipur.

The player under the spotlight

Virat Kohli was visibly upset after the beating RCB took from Hyderabad and if theirs is one player who really wouldn’t be going down without a fight it has to be him. Expect Virat to really turn up the heat at Jaipur against the opposition.

Probable XI: Parthiv Patel. Virat Kohli, Moeen Ali, AB De Villiers, Shimron Hetmyer, Colin De Grandhomme, Shivam Dube, Navdeep Saini, Umesh Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Siraj

Pitch

The pitch is expected to be a traditional Jaipur pitch that would offer bounce to pacers and should be conducive to stroke-play. A score of around 170 should be a good one for the team batting first.

IPL 2019 RR vs RCB Preview and Prediction

It’s highly unlikely that RCB has recovered from what was a horror evening in Hyderabad. Due to the brutal IPL schedule, they’ve hardly had the time to even get their bearings right and will be on the field facing a new opposition. Going up against Rajasthan in their own fortress could just be too big a challenge for Bangalore at this point of time.
