Head to Head:KKR 15-8 KXIP
Kolkata Knight Riders
Kolkata displayed the depth in their batting admirably in their first match against Sunrisers and again it came down to the usual suspects who made the important contributions and ultimately won them the game. Nitish Rana’s innings at the top was a positive but question marks will be raised over the rest of the batting order with Narine removed from the opening position and Shubhman Gill batting just too low.
Warner’s excellence did expose the bowling line up a bit and KKR might be looking to rectify that wrong in the coming matches as their trump cards (Kuldeep and Narine) didn’t really contribute much and were handled admirably. With the match at the same venue, Kolkata might be looking to field the same outfit and win slightly more convincingly.
The player under the spotlight
Chris Lynn again failed to get going in the first match against Sunrisers and it did seem he was trying too hard too soon. With the kind of hitting prowess that exists lower in the order for KKR, Lynn could look to give himself some time in the middle for at least 2-3 overs before really beginning to unwind. The crucial thing though for KKR is Chris Lynn making a sizable contribution.
Probable XI: Chris Lynn, Nitish Rana, Robin Uthappa, Shubhman Gill, Dinesh Karthik, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Piyush Chawla, Lockie Ferguson, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna

Kings XI Punjab
The shadow of the mankading incident is going to be a long one for Ravichandran Ashwin throughout the IPL as for many he clearly just broke the rules of the spirit of the game. The fact that the team still reunited and showed great fight to win the game was really commendable.
But despite all that, some things are pretty clear for Punjab. The team lacks depth both in the bowling and batting department. If it wasn’t for Gayle and to an extent Sarfaraz the team was not going to get the total and maybe if it wasn’t for Ashwin mankading Buttler the team was not winning the match. The equation for Punjab is slightly peculiar in the sense that they would rely heavily on their top 4 to consistently score big if they need to stay in the hunt.
The player under the spotlight
It doesn’t matter what Virat Kohli says about IPL form not having any bearing on WC selection because if KL Rahul ends up scoring massively in this edition he would for sure make his case stronger for inclusion in the side. Importantly though, the team also needs him to do that because they can’t entirely rely on Gayle to score big every match.
Probable XI: Chris Gayle, KL Rahul, Mayank Aggarwal, Sarfaraz Khan, Nicholas Pooran, Mandeep Singh, Ravi Ashwin, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Mohammed Shami, Sam Curran, Ankit Rajpoot
IPL 2019 KKR Vs KXIP Preview and Prediction
KKR with a much better bowling line up and better depth in batting start as favorites and would be looking to field first and then chase down whatever target is put in front of them.
They’ve shown that even a 180 is not a safe score against them but on that Eden Gardens pitch, 180 would be tough to hunt down.
