Head to Head: DC 4-8 SRH
DC vs SRH Preview
With one team coming off probably the best batting effort of the tournament in their last match and the other throwing away a guaranteed victory this match could turn out to be pretty one-sided if Delhi Capitals have not recovered from the beating that they took at the hands of Punjab. But then when you go through their lineup you realize that this team on its day can beat anyone and Hyderabad would be no exception if Delhi plays to their potential.
Sunrisers as of now don’t have too many headaches and do look a pretty formidable side but something that has actually been their strength could maybe cause a few issues down the line. The opening combination has been mega and has taken pretty much all the pressure off the middle order to post a total on the board. How will the middle order react if the likes of Warner/Bairstow get out early?
Delhi, on the other hand, has huge reserves of talent but do seem to be lacking when it comes to application and game acumen. They almost threw away the game against KKR and just capitulated on their own against Punjab when all that was needed was a cool head to guide them through.
Form Guide (LWLW)
As I said earlier, there’s nothing wrong with the team combination and there’s an abundance of talent there. But what the team really lags is the game acumen right now. They do have the right people in Sourav Ganguly and Ricky Ponting to put that in place so it would be really interesting to see if this bunch of young and upcoming stars are able to bounce back.
In terms of the team combination, they could bring in Amit Mishra back in place of Avesh Khan who did look a bit out of sorts in the previous game.
The player under the spotlight
Rishabh Pant must be feeling the heat after pretty much triggering the collapse and costing the team a victory. One thing we’ve seen though in the still nascent stages of his career is that Pant tends to bounce back from adversities pretty well. He’s done it in the test series in Australia and he’s done it once or twice in IPL as well. This could be the game where he bounces back yet again from what was a pretty miserable outing in Mohali
Probable XI: Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer (c), Colin Ingram, Hanuma Vihari, Chris Morris, Sandeep Lamichhane, Amit Mishra, Kagiso Rabada, Harshal Patel
Form Guide (WWL)
Sunrisers face a conundrum where they’ve not boasted their middle order and are really backing their openers to seal the deal for them. On a slower pitch like the one in Delhi, it could be tricky and maybe a Kane Williamson could be a more reliable option at No.3. But that would mean dropping Mohammed Nabi who was a superstar in the last match. It’s a tricky situation the team finds itself in.
The player under the spotlight
This has not been a vintage Bhuvneshwar Kumar IPL by any means. He’s gone for runs at crucial junctures he’s not really penetrated that much and he’s not really fulfilled his role to perfection. With most of the other bowlers in the team making a mark in some way or the other Bhuvneshwar would be under pressure to perform at his current performance doesn’t guarantee his place in the side.
Probable XI: David Warner, Johnny Bairstow, Manish Pandey, Vijay Shankar, Deepak Hooda, Mohammed Nabi, Yusuf Pathan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rashid Khan, Sandeep Sharma, Siddharth Kaul
The pitch is expected to be on the slower side but the last game has shown that one freak innings can take the score in realms of 180 and still get chased down. Still, though, a score of 160 should be at Par on this pitch and give the bowling team a fighting chance to defend.
IPL 2019 DC vs SRH Preview and Prediction
You look at the lineup, you look at the momentum and all of it points towards Sunrisers. But then you look at Delhi, a team seething from a loss, a team of young talented players looking to make a mark and you think maybe, for a change, let’s back talent and exuberance over experience. We pick Delhi Capitals to prevail in this one.
