- Match: India vs Sri Lanka, 3rd T20I, Sri Lanka tour of India, 2020
- Date: Friday, January 10, 2020
- Time: 01:30 PM GMT
- Venue: Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune
The 2nd T20I between India and Sri Lanka at Indore went on expected lines as the home team made light work of the modest total of 142 set by the Lankans. It was a clinical performance by India and they were professional on all departments; never allowing the visitors to dictate terms. Since the first game of the 3-match series was washed out, India now leads 1-0 and would be favorites for the final match at Pune on January 10.
The best thing for India in the 2nd ODI was the performance of the young bowling unit on a flat batting deck. Pacer Navdeep Saini’s terrific 2-18 turned the tide for India and captain Kohli would be delighted to have found another genuine pace option for the format. Shardul Thakur bowled maturely and the return of Jasprit Bumrah was a huge relief to the team. Leg-spinner Kuldeep Yadav too left his mark with 2 wickets.
India’s batting, despite the unavailability of opener Rohit Sharma, looks solid. KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and skipper Virat Kohli were among the runs and these three are likely to do the bulk of the scoring in the final match too.
Sri Lanka produced a very poor batting performance on a good batting deck. The openers, Danushka Gunathilaka and Avishka Fernando, gave the team a good start but the middle-order completely collapsed. Kusal Perera’s 34 was the highest score and that reflects poorly on the team. The likes of Oshada Fernando, Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Dasun Shanaka would have to shoulder responsibility if they hope to put pressure on India.
Sri Lanka’s bowling didn’t put much pressure on the strong Indian batting. Barring leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga, none of the bowlers could make an impact. In fact, captain Lasith Malinga conceded 41 runs in his 4 overs which should be a matter of concern for the team.
India vs Sri Lanka, 3rd T20I: Cricket Betting Tips
There have just been two T20Is played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune and both of them were low-scoring encounters. The pitch for the 3rd and final T20I on the venue between India and Sri Lanka is expected to be an even one with batsmen having a good time and some help for the slower bowlers.
The team winning the toss is likely to bat second as both the games here have been won by the chasing team. Don’t expect a run feast and the total number of runs scored in the game should be around 300-320 runs.
Team India is too strong right now and has covered all their bases. Sri Lanka doesn’t look strong enough to take on the home side and barring a miracle they won’t be able to stop Kohli’s men. Expect India to win the 3rd T20I and with it the series.
