- Match: India vs South Africa, 1st ODI, South Africa tour of India, 2020
- Date: Sunday, March 15, 2020
- Time: 08:00 AM GMT
- Venue: Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow
The first ODI between India and South Africa at Dharamsala was washed out, without even a coin toss. This is exactly what had happened in the first T20I between these two sides at the same venue last September. Now things will move to Lucknow for the 2nd ODI on Sunday and hopefully we will get to witness proper action there.
It remains to be seen if Team India manages to shed off their poor form from New Zealand and begin anew. This is the last series they will play for the season and would hence like to finish on a high.
The return of Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shikhar Dhawan would certainly bolster the squad and the team management would be looking keenly at how they perform. It is Virat Kohli, however, who would be under a lot of focus after his poor run in New Zealand. KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are the other two batsmen to watch out for as they will be manning the middle-order. Hardik Pandya’s flourish as a finisher is also being anticipated.
For their bowling, India has good options for these conditions in Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, along with Navdeep Saini and leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal.
South Africa is coming of a terrific 3-0 ODI series win against Australia at home and will be eager to show that they are not the same side they were last year. Captain Quinton de Kock has been in great form and loves playing against India (784 runs and 5 hundreds at an average of 60.30). The experience of Faf du Plessis and David Miller, who have played in India enough times, will come in handy too. Another batsman to really watch out for will be the hard-hitting Heinrich Klaasen who is fresh from a maiden ODI hundred against Australia. He will love these pitches and should do well.
South Africa’s bowling is a little inexperienced this time as they are missing Kagiso Rabada. However, Lungi Ngidi, Andile Phehlukwayo and Anrich Nortje should do a decent enough job on these surfaces.
India vs South Africa, 2nd ODI: Cricket Betting Tips
The venue for the 2nd ODI between India and South Africa is the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium at Lucknow. The weather for the match day is expected to be mostly sunny in Lucknow so we should get a full game.
There have just been three ODIs played at this particular venue and all of them involved West Indies and Afghanistan in 2019. So the surface will be new for India too. However, the pitch is likely to be a typical Indian one with batsmen having a good time but the spin bowlers will enjoy as the pitch should grip.
Team India will obviously have the home advantage and they are a difficult side to beat at home. South Africa should challenge India as they are a new and improved side now. However, back India to secure a win in the 2nd ODI.
