- Date: Thursday, March 12, 2020

- Venue: Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala
After a disappointing end to their New Zealand tour, Team India will now be hosting South Africa at home for a three-match ODI series. The first match of the series begins at Dharamsala on March 12. While India are very strong at home, they should be wary as this South African side is just coming off a 3-0 clean sweep of Australia.
India Match Form
Team India has had some fresh additions to the squad for this series with the return of Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shikhar Dhawan. Another great addition is young batsman Shubman Gill who is a talented opener. These changes could very well make a big difference.
Virat Kohli will be leading the team again and hoping to get some runs under his belt after a poor New Zealand tour. KL Rahul, Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant are the other batsmen to watch out for. However, all-rounder Hardik Pandya might be the biggest impact maker as he would be itching to perform.
On the bowling front, India would be depending on Jasprit Bumrah, Navdeep Saini and leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal.
South Africa Match Form
South Africa will be fairly confident of putting up a good show after their recent series victory against Australia. Quinton de Kock has been leading the side from the front and has great options like Temba Bavuma, Faf du Plessis and David Miller, who should do well on Indian surfaces. However, the one to really watch out for will be Heinrich Klaasen – the hard-hitting batsman who has been in sensational form of late.
South Africa’s bowling has good variety and Lungi Ngidi, who recently produced his best ODI figures, will be leading the bowling unit in Kagiso Rabada’s absence. Andile Phehlukwayo and Anrich Nortje should provide able support. Keshav Maharaj’s spin bowling will also be crucial.
India vs South Africa, 1st ODI Cricket Betting Tips
The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala has been one of the better ODI surfaces in India. It has help in it for both the batsmen and bowlers as it generates good bounce and movement. It will be interesting to see how the wicket behaves during the 1st ODI between India and South Africa.
The highest total achieved on this venue is 330-6 by India against the West Indies back in 2014. For this game, the team batting first would be targeting a total of 270-280 runs.
India will certainly have the edge in this game as they are playing at home. Moreover, in the last 5 ODIs between these two sides, India has won 4 times while losing just once. Thus, India will begin as favorites for the match though South Africa can surprise them given their recent form.
However, considering the home advantage and South Africa’s inexperienced bowling attack, back India to win this game.
