India Vs Australia 5th ODI at Delhi Preview and Prediction

India

Form Guide: Last 5 Games(W/L): 3/2 LLWWW

If Ranchi was a rude awakening then Mohali was nothing short of a sucker-punch where India despite posting a mammoth total fell short as they were blown away by a storm by the name of Ashton Turner.

The scorecard for India was an amazing reading (the batting one, not the bowling one) but massive scores for the openers but again it highlighted probably what could be India’s Achilles heel for the World Cup, India’s lower order as they dearly missed a Hardik pandya’s 20-ball 40.

The bowling unit struggled on a flat deck and in many ways it was Ashton Turner and his brilliance just took the match away from them.

For the decider India would be looking to field the same eleven and hope to be more efficient in the bowling department.

The player under the spotlight

Replacing Virat Kohli at No.3 is not a joke but at the same time it shows the amount of confidence the team has on you. If KL Rahul is able to make a 100 or a meaningful impact on the game then he would be doing his World Cup chances no harm.

Probable XI: Virat Kohli (captain), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant(wk), Kedar Jadhav, Vijay Shankar, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravindra Jadeja

Australia

Form Guide:Last 5 Games(W/L): 2/3 WWLLL

Well, who would’ve thought that after getting dominated at home and losing the first two matches, Australia would be staring at an unlikely series victory over one of the favorites to win the world cup.

Khwaja and Cummins have been the stars of the series with Cummins getting better every passing game. Turner’s innings would have surely got everyone stand up and take notice. And the Australian ODI team all of a sudden looks in much better shape for the World Cup.

For the Final ODI we expect them to bring back Lyon in place of Behrendorff if the pitch is too dry but the rest of the lineup should be the same.

The player under the spotlight

World cricket was introduced to a new talent by the name of Ashton Turner who despite smashing at almost 200 showed maturity and presence of mind in the innings. Australia would be really excited to have chanced upon someone like him who can win game from almost impossible positions.

Probable XI: Aaron Finch (captain), Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Ashton Turner, Alex Carey, Peter Handscomb, Adam Zampa, Jhye Richardson, Pat Cummins, Nathan Lyon,

India Vs Australia 5th ODI at Delhi Preview and Prediction

Overall India is a better unit and more often than not you would expect them to beat Australia. Delhi is a comparatively slower track which would bring the Indian spinners in the game a bit more and make them strong favorites to take the series.

Teams could be looking to bowl first to prevent dew having an impact later and a total of 300 should be on the cards with team Batting second having an advantage of dew in the second innings.
