Fulham vs Everton Preview
Everton will travel to Craven Cottage to face a listless Fulham side as they hope to continue their recent purple patch.
The Toffees have strung a good run, and they have won their last three league games. Those include wins over West Ham, Chelsea and Arsenal, as the Gunners were defeated in their previous Premier League game. Everton have scored five unanswered goals in those three wins, which has decreased the pressure on manager Marco Silva considerably.
Everton are currently 9th in the table and just a point below seventh-placed Leicester City. It is highly likely that the team in seventh place will get Europa League football next season, and Silva will have his eye on that. A relegated Fulham side is a good opposition to build that charge for European football.
Last week’s 4-1 defeat against Watford confirmed relegation for Fulham, and it was no surprise. The London side have failed to impress since getting promoted, and massive spending in the transfer window has not been reflected on the pitch. Slavisa Jokanovic and Claudio Ranieri were both sacked this campaign, and interim boss Scott Parker had to see his side get relegated officially.
Fulham’s recent form has been terrible, and they have lost their last nine league games. Their last win was a 4-2 result over Brighton in January. No other side has conceded more than Fulham’s 76 goals, and their woeful defense has been the primary culprit for relegation.
Everton’s attacking players have been in the form of late, as the likes of Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson have impressed. Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored the solitary goal in the win over Arsenal, and he has taken over the striker spot from Cenk Tosun. Ryan Babel has been the lone bright spark for Fulham, and his side will hope that Aleksandar Mitrovic rediscovers his early-season form.
Fulham’s last Premier League game was against Manchester City, and the champions claimed a 2-0 win at Craven Cottage. Everton will be favorites to replicate that due to the disparity in the two sides’ seasons. A win could propel Silva’s side into seventh place, which is where they will want to come at the end of the season.
Despite their poor record, Fulham have been bright in home games. They gave Chelsea and Liverpool a fight until the very end, and the home support will be looking for a similar performance. Everton won 3-0 when these two sides met earlier this season, and Sigurdsson netted a brace that day.
Centre-backs Yerry Mina and Michael Keane will be out for Everton, as they are nursing injury and illness respectively. Morgan Schneiderlin is also a doubt for Marco Silva going into the game. Fulham have no major injury concerns, and Parker has a full squad of players to choose from.
Fulham vs Everton Prediction
The match should have a lot of goals and expect to see more than 2.5 goals in the game. Everton should clinch the two points, but not without some resistance from Fulham. Both sides should score in what will be an entertaining game for the neutral.
