Head to Head: Nadal Leads 23-15 (Federer has won all of the last 5 matches played between them). Both players have met last time in 2017 at the Shanghai Masters, which ended in Federer winning the game in straight sets.
Roger Federer thrashed Hubert Hurkacz 6-4, 6-4 and Rafael Nadal beat Khachanov 7-6 (2), 7-6 (2) on Friday to set up a blockbuster semifinal at the ATP Indian Wells Masters.
At the moment it does seem like Federer holds the advantage over Nadal. After a shock loss in the 4th round at the Australian Open he’s been in sublime form as he recently notched up his 100th ATP title at Dubai. Even at Indian wells he’s yet to lose a set and has been hardly pushed by any of his competition until now.
On the other hand it’s not really been as smooth for Nadal, he suffered a loss to Kyrgios. He had a tough quarterfinal as well and there have been signs of him having slight discomfort in his knees. To add to it Federer has beaten him 5 times in a row(and all of them on hard courts).
The last match between Khachanov as well took a lot out of Nadal as he was stretched to tie breakers in both the sets and was hardly able to impose himself on his opponent. On the other hand it did also show that the Spaniard can really dig deep when need be and push through.
Federer vs Nadal Bet Tips
From the looks of it the match could be a fight between Nadal’s resilience and tenacity going up against Federer’s class. The form Federer is in and the way he has had the number of Nadal in recent times he starts as the favourite.
Nadal could pose a fightback and we could see him winning a set and stringing together some good games but with a problematic knee you really wonder for how long Nadal could maintain the tempo. In the end we expect Federer to get one over Nadal in 3 sets.
