On the second day of the 2019-20 NBA season restart, the Houston Rockets and the Dallas Mavericks will clash in what should be a fascinating contest. Both the teams from the West would be eager to improve their rankings and both are quite equally poised. Only three losses separate these two teams and the winner of this match could well go on to decide the winner of the Southwest Division.
Houston Rockets have functioned like a well-oiled machine this season and have been guided ably by head coach Mike D’Antoni. However, their results haven’t been as great as compared to the previous seasons.
Russell Westbrook’s addition is a good impetus to the team and it will be interesting to see how he matches up with former MVP and Thunder teammate James Harden. Robert Covington adds more speed and offensive to the team.
Interestingly, in the restart scrimmage game on this Sunday between Houston Rockets and Memphis Grizzlies, James Harden scored 31 points to lead his team to an impressive 119-104 win. Moreover, Westbrook tallied eight points, six rebounds and five assists in that game. This should keep the Rockets in good stead for their official restart match-up.
MVP candidate Luka Doncic along with Kristaps Porzingis is the dynamic duo of the Mavericks and will be giving the team a great boost when they restart their campaign just with their presence. Porzingis averaged 22 points and almost 10 boards per contest this season and would be eager to continue that form.
A lot will depend on the condition of Doncic’s health who had many nagging injuries. If he is in full shape, then the Mavericks will be a hot team. They had the best offensive rating in the league before the stoppage and would look to continue that solid scoring pace.
The Dallas Mavericks lost 111-118 in their scrimmage match on Sunday against the Indiana Pacers. They would like to quickly out that loss behind them and produce a better show on the main match day.
Houston Rockets vs Dallas Mavericks NBA Betting Tips
Both the Rockets and the Dallas Mavericks ended their 2019-20 campaign before the stoppage of the league due to the lockdown with 40 wins. However, the Rockets had won the most recent meeting (128-121) in Houston. In that game, the Rockets had used a 36-point third quarter to pull away and take the lead.
Dallas are the more stable team of the two and hence should have the advantage. However, a superb show by James Harden and Russell Westbrook could take the game away from them. That being said, Dallas also has the size advantage on the Rockets and could well dominate them. Thus, it would be better to put your money on the Dallas Mavericks for this game.
