The Minnesota Timberwolves registered a surprising victory over the Brooklyn Nets to open their new NBA season on a fantastic note. Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets too surprised everyone with a narrow victory of 126-125 against the Chicago Bulls in their opening game.
This has now set up the clash between the Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Charlotte Hornets on October 25 very nicely. The two teams have faced-off a total of 56 times against each other in the NBA and the Hornets have enjoyed a fair advantage with 36 wins while the Timberwolves have won only 20 games. The Timberwolves and the Hornets had faced-off twice in the 2018-19 season and both had registered one win each.
Interestingly, the Timberwolves have won 3 of their last 5 games. Their offensive play in that victory against Brooklyn Nets was really impressive. Captain Karl-Anthony Towns would be hoping that the boys continue the good work. The experienced Jeff Teague will certainly be looking to make an impact. While he is no longer the force he once used to be, Teague still is a solid star-table point guard for Minnesota.
Then there is Robert Covington, Andrew Wiggins and Treveon Graham who would be itching to be the stars of this game. Jarrett Culver, the recent pick, will likely be at the shooting guard position. He’s a good and versatile guard with great defense and can be a game-changer for the Timberwolves.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets will still be reeling after their thrilling win in their season opener against the Chicago Bulls. Rookie forward PJ Washington was the standout star for the Hornets as he led the team to this comeback win. Washington scored 27 points along with 4 rebounds to complete a terrific NBA debut. This is in fact the highest number of points scored on an NBA debut on opening night since Gordan Giricek in 2002.
Devonte’ Graham’s 23 points and Dwayne Bacon’s 22 points in that game will keep the Hornets high on confidence. Cody Zeller was in good form too. If Miles Bridges and Terry Rozier can put up a better show in this game, then the Hornets would be really difficult to beat.
The Hornets had the 19th offense in the 2018-19 season that averaged 110.7 points per game. They will be facing the Wolves’ 23rd defense which averaged 114.0 per game last season.
NBA Basketball Prediction – Charlotte Hornets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
The Charlotte Hornets have a superb home record against the Minnesota Timberwolves. They will need a robust perimeter defense to upstage the Timberwolves in this game. They will have to be wary of Karl-Anthony Towns and ensure that he is tackled.
Meanwhile, Minnesota will be confident after their opening night victory. However, they are likely to find the goings tougher against the Hornets this time. The home advantage will favor the Hornets as well as their speedy offence.
This should be a very close game. But, the Charlotte Hornets should win the contest and continue their dominance over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The total points scored in the game should be 220+.
