Brighton and Hove Albion will look to get further away from relegation when they welcome Bournemouth to the Amex Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Seagulls are currently 16th in the table with 33 points, five points clear of Cardiff in 18th place. Further, they also have a game in hand and are set to face the latter on Tuesday in what is expected to be a relegation six-pointer.
Brighton boss Chris Hughton continues to do an excellent job of keeping them up on a shoestring budget. They even reached the FA Cup semifinal, before losing to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at Wembley.Embed from Getty Images
Unless a significant collapse coupled with Cardiff picking up a lot of points between now and end of the season occurs, the Seagulls should be set for another season in the top flight.
Coming to the visitors, Bournemouth are another team where the coach and the club are a perfect fit. Eddie Howe is one of the best coaches outside the top six, both in terms of sticking to an exciting style of football as well as developing youth players every season.
The Cherries are safer than their opponents as they sit in 13th place with 38 points. Thus, they are almost set for another season in the Premier League, a significant achievement for Howe.
Hughton has received a considerable boost as star man Pascal Gross is back in training after recovering from a hamstring injury. Further, Solly March is also in contention to be a part of the match-day squad as per the gaffer as he overcame a calf injury.
Bournemouth have quite a few players out for the long-term and therefore, expected to miss the game. This list includes Diego Rico, Simon Francis, Lewis Cook, Charlie Daniels, Andrew Surman and Steve Cook. The rest of the players are available for Howe to pick from.
Brighton Predicted XI: Ryan; Montoya, Duffy, Dunk, Bernardo; Propper, Stephens, Bissouma; Knockaert, Jahanbakhsh, Murray
Bournemouth Predicted XI: Begovic; Clyne, Mepham, Ake, Adam Smith; Brooks, Gosling, Lerma, Fraser; King, Wilson
Brighton vs Bournemouth Prediction
This game could go either way considering neither team is in great form. Brighton have won 2 of their last 5 PL games but have lost their last two league games. On the other hand, Bournemouth have won just one of their previous five league games and have lost their last two games as well.
The recent head-to-head is mixed as well with Bournemouth winning the reverse fixture while Brighton knocked the Cherries out in the FA Cup 3rd round. Further, the visitors have lost 10 of their last 11 games on the road, and this does not bode well for them going into the match. Howe’s side have the third worst defensive record in the Premier League this season.
Brighton needs the three points more due to the threat of relegation looming on their heads, and Hughton’s men will start the match as slight favorites over Bournemouth.
