Brest will host Angers at the Stade Francis-Le Ble on Saturday in the Ligue 1.
Angers Match Form
Both these sides are close to each other in the table. Angers are in 14th place in the table as of now. They are six points clear of 18th spot, which is the relegation playoff position. Going into 2020, Angers had no real threat of relegation. But a poor run of results this year has resulted in a drop. Angers have lost four of their last five league games. However, they got back to winning ways with a win last weekend.
Montpellier were the visitors at the Stade Jean-Bouin, and Angers pulled out a 1-0 win. Stephane Bahoken got the only goal of the game for Angers. Despite having less of the ball, Angers had eight efforts on target compared to just two from Montpellier. Bahoken has scored three league goals, and he is the joint second on the list of scorers for Angers. Rachid Alioui tops the list with six strikes to his name. Bahoken came on as a substitute against Montpellier, but he should start against Brest.
Angers have scored 25 league goals in 26 appearances, which is not a good offensive record. Only three sides have scored fewer in the entire division. The return of Bahoken to the lineup will surely provide a boost for Stephane Moulin’s side.
Brest Match Form
Brest are just a point above Angers in the table. They were below a couple of weeks ago, but a poor run from Angers has reversed that. Brest are unbeaten in their last four league games, but they have only won one out of those. That win came courtesy of a 3-2 result over Saint-Etienne two weeks ago. Brest led 3-0 in that game and looked impressive throughout. In their last game, they visited Nice and claimed a 2-2 draw. Nice raced to a 2-2 lead, but Brest bounced back.
Samuel Grandsir made it 2-1 before an own goal rescued the point for Brest. The result meant that Brest have lost just once in their last seven games in all competitions. Despite being 13th in the table, Brest have been a good attacking side. They have scored 34 goals in 26 league games this campaign. The top half is just three points out of their reach, and they could get there with a win on Saturday.
Brest and Angers have met just once in the last five years. They played each other in October in the reverse fixture. Brest claimed a 1-0 win as Irvin Cardona scored the only goal of the game. Cardona is their top-scorer this season with six goals to his name in the Ligue 1.
Brest vs Angers Betting Tips
The game will be close this time as well, but Brest will be favorites to pick up the win. Angers have struggled for goals, and the total goals should be under 2.5 in the game. Brest should pick up the three points and the clean sheet as well.
