Burnley will travel to Bournemouth as they attempt to put more distance between themselves and the relegation zone. The Clarets are five points clear of the bottom three, and Sean Dyche will want to increase that further. Bournemouth are comfortable in mid-table, with nothing left to play for as the season ends its conclusion.
Last week’s 2-0 win against Wolves was a huge result, as the safety cushion increased from two to five points. Cardiff City failed to win either of their games this week, which was beneficial to the Clarets. They are yet to play Cardiff, who are the only rivals for the last relegation spot.
The win against Wolves came after four consecutive losses, and Dyche will want to build on this momentum. Burnley are currently in 17th place with 33 points. Two more wins ought to do the trick for them, and Bournemouth is one of the more favorable fixtures in their schedule.
Bournemouth are in 12th place, with no real danger of relegation. They were beaten 2-0 by Leicester last time, and the recent form has been poor. Eddie Howe has tasted just one win in his last eight Premier League games, which came against relegated side Huddersfield. Their away record has been abysmal, winning only 1 out of their last 11 outings.
The home form has been much better, and their attack has flourished at the Vitality Stadium. They have scored 28 league goals at home, which gives them a decent average of 1.75 per game. The likes of Callum Wilson and David Brooks are now back from injury, which will enable Howe to field his strongest attacking unit. Josh King scored twice in their last home game, which was a 2-2 draw against Newcastle.
Bournemouth still have injuries to deal with, especially in defence. Both Steve Cook and Adam Smith are injured, alongside long-term absentee Trevor Francis. Andrew Surman is also ruled out, which will be a huge blow for Bournemouth’s midfield. Burnley have no recent injuries, and Dyche has a complete squad to utilize.
Premier League Bournemouth vs Burnley Preview and Prediction:
Even though Bournemouth score plenty of goals, they also concede at the other end. They have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last three home games. The likes of Dwight McNeil have been in good form for Burnley, and they will hope to keep that run going on for Bournemouth.
The attacking quartet of Ryan Fraser, Brooks, Wilson, and King are lethal when on form, and goals will be expected in the game. Burnley’s defense has improved of late, but the game should contain over 2.5 goals. Both sides will be hopeful of scoring in this one. The last time these two sides met, Burnley won 4-0 in a surprising result.
Something similar seems out of the realms of possibility, but the result could swing either way. This could turn out to be a high-scoring game, and even a point will be valuable for Burnley given the situation they are in.
