Basketball EuroLeague Betting Tips and Preview – Valencia Basket vs CSKA Moscow – October 04, 2019 21:00 CET

Defending champions CSKA Moscow will travel to the Pavelló Font de San Lluís to face Valencia Basket in the EuroLeague opener.

After falling in the semi-finals the season before, CSKA went all the way to clinch the EuroLeague title last season. They finished second in the regular season after winning 24 out of the 30 games. Fenerbahce Beko finished first courtesy of one more win. In the first round of the playoffs, CSKA faced Saski Baskonia. They claimed a comfortable 3-1 series win to progress to the final four. CSKA came up against Spanish giants Real Madrid in the semi-final.

Despite trailing at the beginning of the fourth quarter, CSKA staged a comeback to claim a 95-90 win. Nando de Colo and Sergio Rodriguez starred in that game for CSKA. Turkish side Anadolu Efes awaited them in the final. After a strong first quarter, CSKA never looked back and beat Efes 91-83. Will Clyburn was the main player for CSKA in the final along with Cory Higgins.

CSKA won the league as well last season, defeating Khimki in the final. Since the VTB United League was created in 2008, CSKA have won it each season except one. They have dominated the domestic landscape like never before. The new VTB United League season started recently, and CSKA lost the first game against Enisey. It was an uncharacteristic loss, and the odds are that they will bounce back quickly. They will hope that new recruits like Konstantine Koufos and Mike James will have a positive impact on the team.

Just like CSKA, Valencia also won a European trophy last season. They played in the second tier competition and claimed the EuroCup trophy. Alba Berlin were the opponents in the final for the Spanish side. Valencia have failed to be in the EuroLeague consistently, and they have played in the EuroCup frequently. Since 2010 they have won the competition three times. In that time, their best finish in the EuroLeague has been the quarter-finals. Coach Jaume Ponsarnau will hope to better that record this time.

Valencia finished third in the Liga Endesa last time. They were crowned as the domestic champions in 2017, which is their only league title in history. Valencia had a 31-12 record that season, and they beat Real Madrid in the final. Coincidentally, it was Real Madrid who knocked them out last season in the Liga.

Valencia won their opening match of this season. They faced MoraBanck Andorra and recorded an 89-68 victory over them. Five players were in double figures for Valencia, and it was a great team performance.

Valencia Basket vs CSKA Moscow Betting Tips

CSKA will go into the match as the favorites to get the win. The defending champions have high quality in their ranks, and the points difference should be greater than 10. Valencia won the last encounter between these two sides, but CSKA should reverse their result and get the opening win.
